In Nashville's early days, the Ventrue infiltrated the growing merchant community and headed the area toward commercial progress. The clan took control over the livestock and textiles industries in the early 1800's. Prior to this, John Langford appointed himself the first Prince of Nashville. He earned the early ire of the Brujah, Nosferatu, Malkavians and Gangrel on separate occasions during his short reign. He ordered the destruction of an early anarch leader, and five years later he suffered Final Death at the hands of other anarchs. After eight years with no Prince, Matteus named himself to the position without contention. He only resided in the city for two years at the time, but he was well known in the 19th Century South. He maintained his position for almost 200 years. During that time, he withstood the slaying of three Brujah Primogen, the chaos of an arisen Malkavian antidiluvian, more anarch disturbances and the Civil War. He did not, however, survive a diablerizing Cainite from Charlotte, who sent him to Final Death in 1996. Matteus' death threw the Kindred community in Nashville into chaos. A brief war erupted, and several Ventrue lost their unlives in the process. The Toreador wrenched control of the city from the Ventrue's once-iron grasp. Now this clan falls behind almost all the others in overall hierarchy. That is something they plan to remedy. In hopes of helping their situation, two Ventrue with ties in organized crime - Danny Delequa and Gino Capriciani - were sent from New York to gather strength for the clan among Nashville's growing underground. Now, Jasmine LaCroix acts as Primogen and works to rebuild the clan. John Watley, owner of the famed Union Station, is her most trusted asset. Meanwhile, Delequa and Capriciani work the other side of the city to gather assets from other sources. |
