A.J. Optin (Hairball626; formerly Wysiwyg409)

From a fairly recent hunter-net post:

My former callsign on this flame-war of a 'net group was Wysiwyg - the acronym that means, What You See Is What You Get. Ever since my imbuing, I've had that statement prove both true and false over and over again. I'll start with the true stuff first, for the truth always comes first for me, as I am searching for it, even long since I have discovered it.

The times WYSIWYG has proven true for me is when we, the 'imbued,' encounter, our quarry, our adversaries, the monsters, the aliens, or whatever you want to call them. To the average human, they look normal, so for them, what they see is definitely not what they get. But for us, since we see the truth of their being, what we see is their true natures is what we get. If we see a snarling beast of death-dealing potency, that's just what it is (although the character of it is different from subject to subject). If we see a crafty manipulator of unseen forces, which, to quote another one of us, "can call down the Middle Finger of God to anally rape you," then it's what we're dealing with. We have no preconceived notions of reality other than what we see. We don't believe anything to be gospel, lies, or the truth unless we perceive it with our own senses. Then it's etched into our very being.

Where WYSIWYG hasn't proved true for me is, of course, when I was 'imbued,' as so many people here are fond of calling it. It was there that it didn't prove true for the first time in my life, as I saw a couple of government suits beating up someone else...and then, there's the characteristic booming voice. "THE TRUTH IS RIGHT HERE." And then the shit hit the fan, and I saw all three of them to be something that is not of this world.

One other instance it has been proven false is when I went onto Hunter-net for the first time. What I saw of my compatriots on there, were a ragtag group of self-righteous bickerers that I didn't think had a chance of getting their act together to resolve the mission bestowed upon us all.

What I got - when I met the posters of the flames in the real world - was the closest group of friends I ever had. Considering how they're the only ones I can talk to about my experiences, I'd trust them with my life.
