Subject: Power and Responsibility

Date: 6 June 2000 23:13

I know that I'm by no means the most active user on this list. In fact, I look at some of the posts here in utter shock and amazement. However, it occurs to me that perhaps some of us are missing the key facts of the puzzle of our existence. I think while we have no idea what exactly has chosen us as the gifted few that have the strength of virtue to accept the truth about our world, we can be sure that we were all picked for a reason, or with a task in mind.

I know that I wasn't picked to join Crusader117's cause, as much as the things that walk this earth chill me to the very core of my being, I'm not convinced that I was picked as a soldier. I mean, why pick a scrawny young man with aspirations to be a writer to take back our world from the claws of these demons? Why not a police officer, or an army ranger? So, what was I chosen for? What responsibility do I have to my fellow man? I guess that is the point of this post. We have been given a huge amount of power, what is our responsibility? I know I'm most likely going to get flamed into the Stone Age for being a pansy and a traitor, but I'd like to think that I'm more than a killer and a hypocrite.

Maybe I'm selfish and childish, but I don't want to loose everything that is important to me in this fight. I don't want to sacrifice everything. I don't want to win this struggle and then realize that I have nothing to go back to. The strange thing is I don't consider myself a coward for this. I think that given the chance I'd give my own life for the safety of others. I guess it's an important distinction that you can give all of yourself, and yet refuse to give up something important. Maybe that's where my responsibility lies. To hold back the forces that seek to ruin everything important to us. Our family, our friends, or souls, whatever that one thing is that you will not sacrifice to push the tides or darkness back. Simply, because we aren't strong enough to save the world as a whole if we can't save our own little corner of it.

I'm starting to ramble, so I'll cut this post off. All I'm trying to say is that we may need to all evaluate our responsibility in this struggle. Just in writing this I know I have come to a surprising realization. I hope that in reading it you are urged into a moment of reflection yourself.

Subject: Reality Check

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I'm going to have to politely suggest that you pull your head out of your ass. I'm not one of those members on this list who hates what he does not understand; I'm exactly the opposite. The more that you come to watch and learn and understand the dark ones, the more you will hate them. The more their existence on this world will offend you. I'm sure that you can name off a hundred human qualities that your little leech friend has, and I'm sure every one of them is, in it's own way, a lie. Until you have seen them in their element, talking candidly, using words like "herd" and "juice bag" to describe your brothers and sisters you will not really understand what kind of creatures that you are viewing. I was duped by their lies for a long time; I'm saving you the pain that comes with becoming a victim like I did.

I know that the first response to this post is going to be one of my posts, quoted with the phrase "Evil is a choice, not an affliction" and something like "How can you judge them all like that? They are as different as we are!" Allow me to set the record straight now. There is a line of what is acceptable and what is not. There is a black and white that only certain clarity of vision can reveal. You can have a demon; a leech, a flicker, a spirit, whatever and they can be as pure as virgin snow. They may even be victims themselves. I know that with the spirits this is especially common. But the moment that they continue the cycle of violence and victims they have earned whatever punishment we deal to them. Now I want you to think about your precious leech. I want you to realize that in its very existence it creates victims. One victim being the person that it was before it joined the ranks of the dead and the next being the victims it creates in it's daily un-life as a parasite.

You may be able to decide that you are willing to risk the things most important to you to allow that thing to "live", but there is no way in hell you can justify putting other people into that situation without their consent.

That's exactly what you are doing.
