Animals Indigenous to Wagon People

"The Wagon Peoples grow no food, nor do they have manufacturing as we know it. They are herders, and it is said, killers. They eat nothing that has touched the dirt. They live on the meat and milk of the bosk. They are among the proudest peoples on Gor, regarding the dwellers of the cities of Gor as vermin in holes, cowards who must fly behind walls, wretches who fear to live beneath the broad sky, who dare not dispute them the open, windswept plains of their world."
Bosk These creatures are large, shaggy, long-horned, ill-tempered bovine. Highly revered by the Wagon Peoples, these beasts are used for meat, milk and milk products, as well as used to pull heavy wagons. For more detailed information, see the "The Bosk" here.
Kaiila A large (20-22 hands), carnivorous mammal with long neck and silky fur; its eyes have three lids; is vivaparous, has incredible stamina, and can be domesticated for riding in spite of its vicious temper, though never truly tamed; in the Tahari, its long hair is used for rope see the "The Kailla" here.
Kailiauk: A gigantic, very dangerous, migratory beast, tawny with red and brown markings on haunches, trident-horned, stands 20-25 hands at the shoulder, and can weigh as much as 4,000 pounds. Hunted generally on kaillaback, it is hunted only on foot when in deep snow, as it almost helpless then. This beast is important to the Red Savages of the Barrens, the major source for food and life. Its meat, bones, horns, hide, and sinew provide food, shelter, clothing, tools and weapons. The Kailliauk is described in detail in "Savages of Gor" and in lesser detail in "Nomads of Gor" page 2.
Larl A large (7 ft. at shoulder) feline, tawny red or black in color, having a black mane; the snow larls are larger with pelts of white; they are carnivorous; probably more close in nature and looks as that of the prehistoric saber-toothed felines. "Tarnsman of Gor" page 149. The Jungle Larl, an inhabitant of the Schendi (see "Explorers of Gor") is smaller and less dangerous to man, than its cousin, the northern larl.
Parsit fish A silvery fish having brown stripes.
Sleen A ferocious mammal, canine in nature (not feline), yet also reptilian, having 6 legs and 2 rows of teeth; there are four types: the prairie sleen, which is tawny, and about 7 feet long; the forest sleen, which is black or brown, which can reach lengths of up to 20 feet; the aquatic sea sleen, which can reach 20 feet in length; and the white snow sleen, usually about 7 feet in length for the domesticated sleen, and up to 20 for the wild; generally it is the prairie and forest sleen that are domesticated for herding and tracking. The snow sleen are especially dangerous as they hunt in packs. Although sleen are most like an elongated lizard-snakelike canine, they are by no means, a cuddly, friendly, lovable creature that make adoring pets. Sleen can be domesticated by humans, responding only to one Master, but it is not a relationship of love, no cuddly stroking behind the ears and such. Sleen, when young, are every bit as vicious and capable of tearing apart flesh as the adults. Incidentally, when the sleen's master dies, the sleen is eaten. Sleen are mentioned most every book. The snow sleen and aquatic sleen can be read about in "Beasts of Gor." See "The Sleen" here.
Tabuk The yellow, singled-horned antelope of Gor. There are more than 20 types of this animal found in the rainforests. Their sweet meat is roasted.
Tarsk A porcine animal much like the Earth pig, having a bristly mane which runs down its spine to the base of the tail. The Tarsk is a favorite meal of rence growers. The Giant Tarsk is a large cousin of the tarsk, standing 10 hands high at the shoulder.
Tumit A large flightless bird, about the size of an ostrich, having an 18"-long hooked beak; carnivorous. "Continually testing the wind; beyond them I saw one of the tumits, a large, flightless bird whose hooked beak, as long as my forearm, attested only too clearly to its gustatory habits; I lifted my shield and grasped the long spear, but it did not turn in my direction; it passed, unaware." "Nomads of Gor" page 2.
Urt A rodent about the size of a medium dog of Earth; it has three rows of teeth, two tusks, and two horns. The Ground Urt inhabits the floor of the rainforests inland of Schendi. The Leaf Urt is a tiny tree-dwelling rodent, having four toes, and inhabits the rainforests inland of Schendi. The Tree Urt is a small tree-climbing rodent found in the rainforests inland of Schendi. The Ground Urt, Leaf Urt and Tree Urt are all mentioned in "Explorers of Gor."
Verr A mountain goat indigenous to the Voltai Mountains; wild, agile, ill-tempered, with long hair and spiraling horns; source of a form of wool; its milk is potable, as well as being used for cheese. "Priest-Kings of Gor" page 63. The Horned Verry is kangaroo-like animal, the fur is wool. Perhaps after the agile and bellicose Gorean mountain goat, the long-haired, spiral horned verr. See "Tarnsman of Gor" pages 148-149.
Vulo A tawny-colored poultry bird, which also exists in the wild, and is used for meat and eggs.
