Chiam See Tong calls for Reformasi!

 In a day clouded by so much worry, Mr Chiam See Tong lifted the mood
momentarily when he uttered the "R" word in the House. 

 "Reformation" of the political system was needed, he said, if Singapore is to
achieve its long-term vision of a creative, open society. 

 MPs found the call odd, perhaps because Singapore's reputation for good
governance has been boosted as a result of the regional crisis. Mr Chiam's
comment was greeted with hoots of laughter all around.
