Hardware

As one can imagine, there is a bit of hardware needed to build a MAME arcade machine. There are links to the suppliers of these products on my Links page.

First, you need a PC. I have an old PC that I am using for this project, which seems to do just fine. Below are the specs:

Dell Dimension XPS M200s
Pentium I @ 233 MHz
Windows 98 OS
4.3 GB Hard Drive
48 MB RAM
PNY Verto Vanta Video Card, PCI, 16MB SDRAM
21" Diamatron Monitor

Next, you will need to buy the controls and buttons. I purchased the following from Happ Controls:
1 - 1 Player Horizontal Pushbutton
1 - 2 Player Horizontal Pushbutton
16 - Blue Horizontal Pushbuttons
4 - 8 Way Ultimate Joysticks
1 - 3" Diameter Blue Translucent Trackball
1 - Trackball Mounting Plate
1 - OSCAR Model 2 Spinner (from OSCAR Controls)

You will also need to purchase an interface to connect the PC to the arcade controls. I chose to go with these from ULTIMARC:
1 - I-PAC (Interface for PC to Arcade Control)
1 - Opti-PAC (Optical Interface for PC to Arcade Control)

Additional hardware is listed below:
1 - Cooling Fan
2 - AC/DC Power Adapters
Wire: 18 AWG grounds, 22-28 AWG rest
Box of 100 Female Quick Disconnects
Bag of Heat Shrink Tubing
Soldering Iron & Solder
2 Rocker Switches (1 for fan, 1 for trackball light)
Power Strip & Power Cord
1 - 12" x 10" Access Door (from Happ Controls)
4 - Cabinet Handles (from Happ Controls)
48" x 30" glass top (1/4" thick)
6 Midway coctail glass clips
30 Carriage bolts
1 box 1" black screws
