Romo & Juliet
I thought this was a really good movie and so I made a page for it.

Similarities and Differences

"In fair Verona where we lay our scene, where civil blood makes civil hands unclean, a pair of star- crossed lovers take their life, doth with their death bury their parents' strife." This quote is a basic sentence of what happens throughout the play. So what did you think? Was the movie or the book better? Was the movie all you expected or were you disappointed and liked the book better? I liked both equally.

The movie was a little melodramatic but very well made. There were lots of good parts throughout the movie. The best part of the movie was the Capulet's party. The camera angles and the music it was a perfect interpretation of what the party was supposed to be like. Paris seemed to be a little too enthused about the fireworks. I didn't quite understand how Juliet's mother didn't yell at her for kissing another guy and still expected her to marry Paris.

However, there were many differences about the movie. One of which was Juliet's dad didn't say that she was fourteen in the movie and he said that in the book. Another change is they left out was the comic relief, I thought that scene was kind of uncalled for since Juliet had just died. Also the servants and musicians were laughing about all of it when they should have felt sad by the death. Likewise they also changed that Romeo didn't get the poison in Mantua. He got the poison in the pool hall where Benvolio, Romeo, and Romeo's servant boy where talking about Rosaline in the beginning of the movie. Also, instead of putting Juliet in a tomb they had her lay in the church with candles surrounding her. Which made the scene really beautiful.

I liked the movie and the book the same. Both had good and bad views. The movie was set in a more current time then the book. Teens can relate to the movie better because of that too. The book had the original text of how William Shakespeare had written the story also. So whether you liked the book or the play remember everyone has their own opinions. So, to his or her their own.

O fortune!be fickle, fortune; For then, I hope thou wilt not keep him long, But send him back.

Farewell! God knows when we shall meet again.

Thus with a kiss i die.
