1. Birds love to chew on remote controls. Keep them out of their
reach.
2. Allow your birds to listen to the television or radio while you are gone. It stimulates their minds.
3. Provide large enough cages. Give enough space to flap wings,
and be sure the cage bars are close enough that the bird can not stick it's head out.
4. Use newspaper for the bottom of the cages, saves money. Use
black and white print, some of the colored paper can be toxic.
5. Shut off ceiling fans when your birds are out, they make great
bird slicers!!
6. Do not aim fans or air conditioners at your birds.
7. NEVER burn scented or Glade candles around your birds, they

8. Cover the cage at night so your birds can get a good night's
rest and privacy.
9. Watch that you don't overheat your pans while cooking,
especially if they are Teflon. Teflon is toxic to birds.

10. Keep the toilet lid down when your birds are out.
11. Don't allow your birds in the bathroom when you are spraying
cleaners, hair spray, or deoderant, they are toxic to birds.
Nail polish is also toxic.
12. You can shower with your birds, just give them their own
perch out of the way of direct water spray.
13. Don't allow birds in kitchen while you are cooking. They could
easily fall into a pan of grease or boiling water.
14. If you have a self cleaning oven, remove your birds
from the
house when you use it.
15. Please, don't take your birds to a petstore with you. Even if it
is a nice store you never know what the birds in there have.
Most stores don't quarantine their birds and they rarely get
a vet visit while they are there.
16. Do not give your bird grit!! It has been found that cockatiels and parrots DO NOT need grit! Actually it can kill them! Look
