Northern Alabama Sheltie Rescue

Shelties Available as of
Saturday, January 14, 2006

All dogs adopted from us are groomed, bathed, given current vaccinations, spayed/neutered and fed a proper diet of Chicken Soup for The Soul, Wellness dog food, or Innova for puppies and adult dogs. Prospective owners must be responsible, consider basic obedience classes, have a fenced in yard or kennel in back yard with ability to walk dog on leash at all times. No families with children under 5 will be considered unless there is a special circumstance. Dogs must be fed nutritious food, given good water at all times, sheltered in hot and cold weather, bathed, brushed, played with, loved and wanted. If any of these conditions are not met, please bring the dog back to Northwest Alabama Herding Rescue. Donation fees for mixed $150.00. For purebred rescus over 1 year, $200.00. Under 1 year, $250.00 to cover the vet costs and help other herding dogs.

We have PUPPIES. They will be ready the first week of February. The momma dog is a Sheltie/Basenji mix and the pups are just beautiful. They will be under 20 lbs at adulthood.

Florence, now (5) five years old, was rescued by a collie rescue group from being put to sleep. She is a gorgeous dog with collie type hair and is more reddish sable and a little white. She has been spayed and utd on all her shots. She is being fostered in Decatur, Alabama. She needs a home with a fenced in yard and people to love her and play with her. She is a great watchdog and wants lots of attention. She has been an outside dog hanging with a lot of collies and needs to be in a home desperately. Florence should live in an only dog home or with just male dogs and she doesn't get along well with other female dogs. We are asking $150.00 for Florence

Runway, a collie/sheltie mix, was found on an airport runway, hence the name. He is a sweet dog and loves to play and be near you. He wants to be someone's special buddy.  We believe he is between 5 and 6 years of age. He is up to date on shots, on heartworm prevention, and neutered. He is looking for a wonderful family with a big fenced in yard. Runway is also a special needs dog because he has a limp and damage to his right rear leg, where he was hit by a car previously. It bothers him more after he has been running around on it for a while and when he is eating, he holds it a bit off of the floor. We have put Runway on some supplements to help with that.

Lady is a 8 year old Collie mix. She is sable and white with blue eyes and just beautiful. She is up to date on shots, on heartworm prevention and spayed. Lady, who is from Louisiana, was displaced by her owner when they took in 2 small rescue dogs and started ignoring her. A wonderful woman who saw that Lady was sad suggested they find a new home for her and that is why she is now up on our website. She loves other dogs and cats, gets along with kids, is completely housetrained and has always been in a fenced in yard. Please contact Barb Leggette who is fostering her. collielady@mscolrsq.org

Daisy is an 11 month old purebred Collie. She was an owner turn in because the owner didn't have time to treat her Demodex mange and hot spot problems. Daisy should be ready for adoption in the next few months. As you can see we are working on her skin problem. She is already spayed, up to date on shots, and on heartworm protection. She gets along with all other dogs and cats. Loves to play with smaller dogs and other collies and would enjoy being with children as well. She needs a fenced in yard to protect her as she loves to roam. Daisy will be on a special diet for the rest of her life to prevent the demodex mange from returning. This is Daisy....please consider donating to help her heal.....thank you
