The Battle Second for West Melton

A Cunning Plan

Before the Cunning Plan...

And so, Nikolas didst put into place a plan so cunning you could put bells on its head and call it a Brazilian sock merchant [now that sounds pretty damn cunning...]

A plan so cunning that people on horses will want to chase it around fields for days

Indeed, it was a plan so cunning and complex that it was very clever in it's cunningness and even more cunning in it's cleverness, and the complex part was not tripping completely and catastrophically over your tongue while capably championing the clever cunningness of it's capricious complexity. ...after the Cunning Plan.

[And it was a bit of a cunnig plan if I do say so myself.

Starting off with a line of Elephant(s)/Warband/Warband/Spear(s) with Cav General in the rear, the idea was to advance the Spears (@ 1 PIP), advance an Elephant (prefferably two, but for some reason they weren't grouped) with one of the Warbands (@2 PIP's), double rank the second Wb behind the first (@ another PIP) and then advance the Cav General into the gap (making a total of 5 PIP's). A little tricky in as far as it required 5 on the PIP dice and execution close enough to the enemy so that they couldn't redeploy their line, yet far enough back to keep out of their Zones of Control.

I originally had this little move planned with an opposing line of Blade's in mind - Cav General and Elephant recoil their respective opposing Bd elements either side of the Warband (both @ +4 vs +3), and the [now double ranked] Wb (with +4 and Quick Kill vs. Blades) snotts their opposing double overlapped Bd (now down to +3).

As it happened, it worked out even better than I had planned - the Cv Gen ended up staring down at one of the Polybian Velites (Cv Gen @ +4 Qwk Ps @ +2), with the double ranked Wb facing Triari (Wb @ +4 Qwk vs. [likely to be] overlapped Sp @ +3). Hadn't figured on the El facing Wroman stickmen though...]

Now here's a group with some punch...
