You may notice from these pictures the black lines that mark the divisions between the different colours/sections of the figure. This is where we have left the undercoat to show through, which helps the eye distinguish the division between the different colours more easily when viewed from the above the table top The shading on the figures is shown to good effect on the Warband. The figures in the background are unpainted Esci Barbarians, for a bit of before and after effect! I don't usually make my irregular troops look so, well, regular. It just happened that those two elements were the ones I picked for the photo, before I really thought about it. However, one of the advantages of mixing your piant is that you can make the same basic colour different shades, as I have done with the flesh on the two outside figures, hence making them slightly different.
