As of the third week of January, we are having an easy winter in North Dakota.  We have had mild temperatures and minimal snow amounts.  Still, we are counting down the days until spring.  We look forward to the arrival of 3 purebred and 2 partbred foals.  The partbreds should be interesting -- Welsh/Belgian crosses for "The Supreme Carriage Horse."      Two Sheyenne ponies have found new homes this wenter:  Bugsy has gone to Stillwater, MN to be a riding and driving pony for the Sharon Sarappo family.  Sheyenne Mahogany Rose has been purchased by Jacinda Hestekin of Bowman, ND. In the fall of 2001, we purchased the full brother to our three Half-Welsh mares from Kirsten Brunner of Canada.  At one time I owned their dam but sold her to Kirsten.  They are all Merioneth Merlyn (Sec. C) x Rainy Night (Arabian).  We plan to show the three year old in driving and halter and the yearling in halter at a couple of Welsh shows in 2002. We attended open carriage  driving events with our Half-Welsh pair in VT, WI, IL, IA, and TN in 2001.  Our plans in 2002 include 6 open carriage driving events in the Midwest.

Ann says the only news up to the North is that it is VERY cold! It was -30 F on January 28th and then added a heat wave the following night of 0 F. Elizan Welsh has three yearling colts and one yearling filly for sale in 2002, plus a three year old mare by her *Rosedale El Senor son - "Rodger" - who will mature 13 hands or over. Ann is also expecting a foal out of Elizan's Crescent at the end of April.

We are pleased to announce the purchase of Whispering Golden Prophet, 2001 Palomino Section B colt.  We hope to have him at a few shows this upcoming year.  Thank you to Lisa Shelabarger and Ted Fey for allowing us to add this beautiful colt to our herd.  We also are anxiously expecting our first home-bred foal this year at the end of April.  Both parents are Reserve Supreme Champions in-hand, so we are hoping for a great things from this foal.  We are also pleased to announce that our section B mare, "Charm" wound up WPCSA NC 4th place Sec. B Mares 3 and over, WPCSA NC 3rd place A/B Adult English Pleasure, WPCSA NC Champion Adult Western Pleasure, and WPCSA NC Champion Adult Trail pony for 2001.  Unfortunately, this last weekend, Charm's future performance career may come to an end as the result of an severe eye injury.  We are keeping every bodily extremity crossed that she will recover, keep her eye, and enouch sight to continue comfortably with a performance career as we had hoped for her to have.  Hope everyone is enjoying the mild winter and we look forward to seeing everyone at the 2002 shows!  Best wishes, Erin, Rick and Erik

With the wonderful winter we have been busy playing with our yearlings (Flirt and Tumblety).  They are so much fun .  Our gelding, Chase, keeps them company as they alternate with him in the pasture and they keep him on his toes trying to avoid thier constant play!  I am really looking forward to the summer off of school and seeing everyone at the shows.  Spring can't come soon enough!:)  We are waiting the arrival of three foals and all are due in late March and early April. I would also like to thank everyone for their patience with my lack of time the last couple of years and assure eveyone that I am looking forward to taking time out again for the club and my hobbies.

I am  in the middle of purchasing a new section B mare in Montana who is sired by a Sleight of Hand son and out of a Broackwell Spider daughter from a Glanant Tango daughter.  Due to this purchase I, may be selling my roan 1/2 welsh mare, "Rosie".  She is sweet and a lovely mover. "Marie" is due for a "Dandy" foal in May, I have an Arab foal due in June and a "Dandy" foal out of an Arab mare due in July.
