Festival Acadien 2001

Sheryl & Russell Cormier showed their colors the first day of Festival Acadien. Their young bass player from San Antonio sure was happy to be there! The Cajun Sounds really rocked the Festival Stage early Saturday afternoon. The dancers couldn't hold back scrambling around the uneven terrain in front of the stage..

Balfa Toujours played a hot evening of music for the Krewe de Canaille at Friday night's Viellé. The next day found Dirk Powell & Christine Balfa with Bois Sec Ardoin (center) in a slower mode playing porch music at the Pavillon d'Héritage. (They expect their first child early December.)

The Magnolia Sisters came up next. This is a happy but hard working group of women. They played the evening before for Kids Alive and really charmed the young 'uns!

The set we all waited for...the red hot Redstick Ramblers. A young group led by Joel Savoy & Lindsay Young with a knowledge of old Cajun tunes, western swing and gypsy jazz. Reminiscent of the era when the fiddle ruled. The crowd couldn't get enough of that stuff!
