What is Key Club?
Key Club is a service organization for high school students. The projects and activities undertaken by your Key Club provide learning experiences outside of the classroom and encourages students to become involved in their school and community. Since you will play an important role in the club's service projects, you will hold a great deal of personal responsibility for the club's sucess. This involvement will help heighten your awareness of your community's needs.

What is the Point System?
This is our method of keeping members active in the club . Members must earn a minimum of 15 points each 9 weeks. At the end of 9 weeks, 15 points will be deducted and any leftover points will NOT carry over to the next 9 weeks (so each member starts over each nine weeks ^_^).

Requirements:

>5 points must come from meeting attendance (2.5 meetings)
>5 points must come from 1 KC event, 3-4 will be offered each nine weeks
>maximum of 5 outside community service points
>2 meetings missed in a row without notification=dismissal
>3 meetings in a row without excuse=probation, in order to avoid dismissal, must attend meetings without excuse

How Points are Earned and Lost
Attending a meeting (informational and in-meeting project).......2 pts
Missing a meeting w/notification .... -2 pts
Attending half a meeting (entire informational portion)....... 1 pt
Disruption during a meeting ........... -5 pts
Attending a Key Club event ............. 5 pts
Completing an in-meeting project ..... 3 pts
Bringing in food to a meeting.... 2 pts
Trivia Answers......................... 1
Paying dues on time ........................2 pts
Outside community service .............. 1 pt per 2 hours (limit 5 pts)

Other optional opportunities to earn points will be announced during meetings throughout the year.

Why a point system?
We love our members. However, we also want our members to get involved. The best way to ensure involvement is through a point system.

Why negative points?
The only way you lose points is if you never let us know why you missed a meeting. If you know beforehand, we ask that you put it in writing and give it to your supervising officer or at the Key Club cart in the library. If an emergency arises and you can't let us know before the meeting, it's okay (emergencies happen, we know); all you need to do is let us know afterward. If you're absent from school, we ask that you let us know also (before or after the meeting), because we probably wouldn't know if you were at school or not.

Can you eliminate the point sytem?
Point systems are evil, I know. However, this is something most Key Clubs use to keep members active. Sorry, the idea probably won't go away for awhile.

Can I join during the year?
Yes, you may. You will be asked upon your attendance of the meeting if you wish to join, and them you must fill out an
application with the commitment to join as well as pay the $10 due fee ($5 goes to the international branch, $3.50 goes to the district, and $1.50 goes to us)

Can I apply online?

Why not? Click here. NOTE:Applications will no longer be accepted. We will start again in May 2003.

What's the Key Club Cart?
When you go into the library, look to your left. You'll see a corridor (a small hallway). In the corridor, on the LEFT is Mrs. Thompson's office (not the RIGHT, that's room 111, my japanese teacher's room). In front of the office is a cart. This is the Key Club cart. ^_^
