Prayer Support
Aglow is an International group of Christian women. It is a non-profit organisation, run by women for women. It's aims are two-fold:
There is much ado these days about 'whole person' treatment, or holistic therapy. There are lots of treatments available for the body and soul but a lot of people are searching for something to help their spirit. You may have doubts or questions about spiritual matters. Perhaps you wonder if there is really a God. Many people believe in Jesus, but cannot see how He has any significance in their lives today in the 21st century. Your local Aglow fellowship provides an opportunity for you to find out more about the love of God through His son Jesus. You may want to bombard someone with questions. You may want to observe quietly. There are mature Christian ladies who would be honoured to help you. You may already be a Christian - that is, someone who not only believes in Jesus Christ, but who has made a 'commitment' to turn from sin (wrongdoing in God's eyes) and follow His teachings. Your local Aglow fellowship is an opportunity to share warm Christian fellowship in a relaxed setting. It could also be a good place for you to start exercising any gifts that the Lord may have given you. Perhaps you would like to help prepare the food, offer a musical talent or help with offering lifts. The Aglow local fellowship is an arm around your shoulder. You will find supportive friendships, caring hearts, listening ears, a sense of belonging. Together with other women, you can discover what it means to grow in God and make a lasting difference in your world.

The Ormskirk (UK) chapter of Aglow started in November 1997. We meet once a month for prayer and once a month for our 'Meeting'. The meeting is simply a relaxing evening of conversation around a buffet, followed by praise & worship (singing about and to God) and a guest speaker. Ladies who would like to come on their own (i.e. without a friend, or being invited) need not feel anxious. Everyone mixes informally and newcomers are made very welcome (without feeling that they are surrounded by a pack of vultures!). Life can be hard. We are not making any glib promises or declarations. We are all from different backgrounds, cultures and denominations - and don't always agree about everything. The common denominator is our love of Jesus Christ. If you come along to one of our meetings, we hope we will be able to show His love for you.
If you would like to attend a meeting but feel you need to know more, please e-mail us and we will try to answer any questions you have.
Our
meetings are held on the 1st Monday of each month (2nd Monday if there
is a Bank Holiday) at:
Time: 7:30 - 10:30 (approx)
Cost of supper: £4.50 (buffet)
Each chapter of Aglow is looked after by a Board of ladies, assisted by male advisors. Here is our Board:
PRESIDENT - Ann Collingwood Ann is married to John and has three grown children
(including
Sarah, who
has her own site) and two grandchildren. She is a gifted Christian counsellor. Ann and John have served as missionaries and now organise aid. Their home has always been a refuge for waifs and strays - humans and animals.
Pat is married to Les and has four grown children and five beautiful grandchildren. Pat and Les are keen caravanners. They attend
a local CofE church.
Viv has a prophetic gifting which is greatly appreciated by fellow Aglow members. Her husband Gordon is a former policeman and talented musician. He is frequently on a cruise ship touring the Mediterranean, playing the piano. What a life!
BOOKINGS SECRETARY - June Collier June is responsible for arranging our guest speakers. She is blessed with a wonderful husband, John, who,
in our early days, attended all our meetings to help do the
dishes!
Michelle is married to Ray and has two young children, Josh (6) and Anna (4). They are the hosts of this Web site.
Michelle suffers from M.E. (C.F.S. in the US) and would love to hear
from other Christian women who are coping (or not!) with this illness.
