I think it would be better if I drove home myself. Obviously you feel uncomfortable around me--and my family.

In the future, if we for some odd reason must do something together again, please try to let me know your opinion as soon as possible.

I'm sorry if this sounds rude, but Dan, if you have something to say (such as you really don't want to drive me home, or you think we should date other people), let me know as soon as the thought enters your head. I'm tired of waiting around phones and computers.
