Alien Secrets

Author: Annette Curtis Klause
Pages: 227
Rating: 3/5

Okay, I admit, I love aliens. In this book, a girl named Puck was expelled and sent to Shoon, a planet that her parents were working and studying the native people Shoowa at. The way the Shoowa were described were cute, by the way.

On the airship there, Puck met Hushwa'shoonyashanyaha *touches nose* Hush for short and they became friends. Hush is distressed, and soon tells Puck that he has lost a heirloom, a symbol of freedom, that was important to the whole species of Shoowa. It was stolen from him. Both he and Puck figure out that it remains on the airship. With the help of their friends, they find it and discover much more about the members of their trip.

Though it was written for younger readers of YA, I liked this story. It was cute. I thought it was a bit stupid when "Ms." or "Mr." were spoken as "Mz" or "Mizzer" but no one can have everything. Its the future after all. Though I had no idea what "absolute zero" meant. A curse or a explanation of relief?
