Through Wolf's Eyes

Author: Jane Lindskold
Series: Firekeeper Saga
Pages: 579
Rating: 5/5
Read: 1

Firekeeper is a feral child raised by wolves. She's lived with them all her life, until a group of humans discover her in search for her father and family. Her father was Prince Barden, a prince exiled and shunned by his father, the king. After a tragic fire, Firekeeper is saved by a pack of royal wolves, who take care of her and teach her their ways.

However, Earl Kestrel, a man who sent out to find Prince Barden and his daughter Lady Blyss, who is Firekeeper, is determinded to make her the king's next heir. He has a man named Derian train her to be human, teaching her how to speak English, ways of humans and proper manners. Firekeeper was stubborn, but she agreed to be taken into the city and be presented to the king, only if she was allowed to take her best friend and loyal companion, Blind Seer, a wolf with blue eyes, and Elation, a falcon, with her.

Soon she made friends, like Elise and Holly, though she only trusts Blind Seer, Elation, and Darian. War was threatening Hark Haven, and Firekeeper was asked by the king to accompany him on a journey to Hope. And well, you'll have to read from there.

I really liked this book. At times, it was sort of boring, but that was when the family lines and peace negotiations were discussed and explained. Other than FireKeeper, the other characters were also describing their own feelings about things. It was sort of warm and fuzzy, the way Elise thought about Jet and Sir Jared, the way Sir Jared thought about Elise, and the way Derian thought about Elise, and the way everyone thought about everyone else. Other than Firekeeper, to the side was a tiny romantic squabble, though no one but the reader would know about them.

It was just so page-turning. All the events and happenings made me wonder who would actually be chosen as heir. From the beginning to the end, you always wonder who the heir will be. You'd have to read it to find out. ^-^ I recommend to anyone who likes wolves, fantasy, and kingdoms.
