I remember: the first time the world became clear
: how it changed everything
: wishing for quiet nights to ponder what I had learned
: drifting off to sleep, trying to forget
: all the times that the walls crept in on me
: believing that all I had ever wanted was gone
: what it was like to hope for amnesia
: praying, screaming, begging for no tomorrow
: the entire bottle of aspirin I swallowed
: burying it deep into my chest
: my blood, my life, pouring out
: everything begin to slip away
: floating into the darkness that engulfed me
: finding peace
: the vast emptiness of the great beyond
: watching them carry my body away
: my mother, eyes red, tears streaming down her cheeks
: thinking that I might have made a mistake
: forgetting that I ever was, I never was
: finally, release!
