Unrecognizable

How shall I remember her?
A young girl
so new to the world
Fresh faced and starry eyed
She smiled happily for me
Without cause, without asking for response
Her arms gleefully hung around my neck
My lord, did she ever look radiant that summer morn'
Oblivious of the danger that laid ahead
Even her youthful innocence could not sway the decision
The sun beamed through the clouds above
Shafts of light hitting us with indescribable brilliance
Shimmered through her shockingly golden hair
Of no consequence
For a second the sun's reflection blinded me
Shined off the blade
I felt my body lunge with terrible force
All at once I covered her
Tore into her with the knife
Her body quickly yielded against the strikes
Thrust again and again
Cold indifference changes
Feel the burning of my rage
My arm strains with each strike
Her blood splattering all over my body
I can't stop, can't let up
She's on the grass, unrecognizable
Her small body limply strewn across the earth
For a short time I found contentment
But again I hunger for more
Unappolgetically I howl in the chair
Until my skull is a void of empty space
As hollow as my life
And share a smile with the devil
