Lots of activities to start spring on a high note at MWR. Basic SCUBA class begins March 15; Beginner sailing classes start March 6; Swim your way to better health with NAVSTA’s Indoor Pool, Bldg. 153, Mondays from 4:30 - 5:00 PM; Warm up that swing for the Spring Singles Tennis Tournament at Naval Station San Diego, Monday-Friday, March 15-19. Click here for all the details on these events and much, much more!COMMANDING GENERAL'S CUP:
Tennis:Congratulations to MCPO Fuller for, as I'm told, a convincing win in the CG Cup Tennis Tourney. That's 7 more points for us and a tie for first place in overall competition. Once again, great job Team Coast Guard!Next Up:The next CG Cup event is the Walleyball Tournament, a one-day event to be held on Tuesday, March 2, at MCRD. I did not have the time or location for this event as of this writing, so email me if you'd like to attend and I'll give you the details. Just don't ask me what Walleyball is.NEW LINKS / NEW CATEGORIES:
The links page will soon be broken up into two new categories, Relocation Resources and Deployment Resources. The links page will still exist with all of the original links, but now it's easier to find links that are specific to those two particular areas of interest. The new pages are not up as of this writing, but should be by early next week. Here are some links I've added this past week that I think you'll find interesting:
* Operation Home Front - This is an absolutely amazing organization that assists military families when their spouses are deployed. Operation Home Front can make referrals or otherwise assist with things like car repair, general handyman services, appliance repair, computer rescue, and even transportation to medical appointments. No problem is too big or too small!* CREDO- I highlighted this organization in the January Ombudsman News, but it's worth another mention here. CREDO, or the Chaplains Religious Enrichment Development Operation, helps promote healthy relationships and families by providing tools for personal and spiritual development. CREDO Seminars are wonderful opportunities to re-focus, get away from it all, and learn something about yourself. They're especially valuable for couples trying to re-connect after deployments. Food and accommodations are free, so why not?Visit the CREDO page on the Ombudsman website for the full 2004 Seminar and Training schedule.--------------------------------That's it for this week! My email box is always open if you have any questions or concerns that I can assist you with.
