The Adventures of Paisley
Blue
The time has come for me to give journal names to the folks Michael and I are living with, so I can share some great stories. As mentioned earlier, we are living with a couple and their two children in a 3-bedroom apartment in Kent.
The mother is a sweet soul whom I shall call Angel. She reminds me a lot of me. We have had some great conversations. We went shopping together and painted fingernails before going out to a club and we can talk about so many things. She is very feminine, and I love her smile, too.
I will refer to her partner as Butch. She is a genuinely nice person, excellent cook, and lots of laughs. Last night I talked with her as she prepared supper, and it was a blast.
Angel's oldest child is a 14-year-old going on 30, and I'll call him Smartalek, cuz he's a big smarty pants. He's actually very sweet, smart and funny. For such a young teen he is a strapping young man, and his height comes in handy for me when I need things off the top shelf. Even at his age, he's already been through a lot. Through our conversations, I have learned that Smartalek has a lot in common with me, and I am happy that he is my friend.
Then there is Fairygirl, who is Angel's 10-year-old daughter. She is a beautiful child with fair skin and red hair. Her eyes are usually full of merriment and this child has got energy! If only we could bottle it... Fairygirl does not hear, and I am hoping to learn sign language so I can communicate with her better.
Angel and Butch taught Michael and I how to play Pinochle. They say we have learned faster than anyone they have ever seen. It gets very competitive between us, with the jokes flying back and forth about who will not be allowed to sleep in the bed, who will be on the couch, or even out on the patio. I love playing games like this, and the other gals say they love having adult conversation. Michael is just really, really good at this, and it's hard to believe he just learned it but I know he did. I think one thing that helps us pick it up so fast is that Michael and I both knew how to play Spades, which is similar.
Life is pretty good right now... and you know life is change. This is one of those moments that I am trying to savor, but in the back of my mind, I'm hoping that when changes do occur, they just improve on the situation.
Have a great day.
