The Adventures of Paisley
Blue
The last couple of days have been pretty good. I am just so happy that it's Friday. Actually I took the day off and have been feeling pretty relaxed. It helps that it's payday and there's a little jingle in my pocket.
I saw Trixie this morning and we had a good visit. We talked about certain issues I'm dealing with. Afterwards, Mechanic was asking how it went and speculated that we talked about three people - Michael, him, and Red. I told him he was right.
Michael caught me off guard yesterday and called me at work. He was telling me all kinds of nice things such as that I was an answer to his prayers and I inspire him to act responsibly. Then, he sang a song to me... on the phone... one of Celine Dion's new songs. Well, by that point I was pretty much melted (how does he do that???) and then he sprang the question on me. He said he was visiting Seattle at the end of July and needed a place to stay for two nights, and I said yes.
I gave Mechanic a call and said I hope you're not mad at me, but I just agreed to... and he said, I know. Michael had already called Mechanic to tell him about his upcoming trip and that he was staying with us. Mechanic was not upset but we started talking about how to make sure it didn't turn into a longer stay.
Trixie pointed out that the things Michael did before asking were manipulative... buttering me up so he could ask for something. I realize this. I also realize that once he gets here, there will probably be more actions like that and I need to be ready and on guard. She suggested that a good way to build my confidence and get me ready to deal with this would be to do some role-playing with Mechanic. So, in a way, it's homework.
In the car leaving from the appointment, I told Mechanic that we had homework to do. He didn't know what to make of that. I was smiling and laughing... and he said he was scared of that. LOL
We then went to lunch at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants. That was really enjoyable. I have a particular weakness for mole (pronounced mole-AY). I think I'm getting Mechanic hooked on it, too.
Next we went to Fred Meyer's and bought several houseplants. One is a hanging spider plant and then we got four smaller plants - and some potting soil. This was followed by a trip to our local Value Village thrift store where we picked up some pots to replant these in... you know how plants from the store always have to be repotted. I also found a new purse and a pair of blue jeans. Mechanic is the one who actually saw the jeans on the rack and asked me to try them on. He's been wanting me to get a new pair of jeans for a while.
I had to run into the attorney's office and work for an hour. Every now and then he gets in a bankruptcy client and I am called in to be his paralegal. Basically I do all the paperwork and dealing with the client, then he files it and gives me a nice check for my troubles. It's a sweet deal.
We also picked up some coffee liqueur and vodka, and plan to make White Russians tonight. Party at my place!
The big news, though, is that the new 20.4 Gig hard drive we bought on eBay finally arrived. Yesterday Mechanic started putting it all together. He went to copy the old hard drive onto the new one and accidentally reformatted the old one. All the programs and files were lost.
I got a phone call from him, thinking I'd be mad at him, but I was not. I understand how it is. Something you've done a hundred times and then boom, you make a stupid mistake, and you can't believe you did it. Heck, I've done that more times than I care to try and count.
The good news is that it's all together again... and we have the DSL back... and the puter runs faster than I've ever seen her run before... life is good. Civilization III is installed and I'm playing it whenever I get a chance. Unfortunately, I have this internal struggle between the three things I love to do now: 1) build websites, 2) play Civ III, and 3) play Dominoes online at AOL.
Ah, what a life.
