I had an opportunity to talk with Mechanic about his disappearance. Turns out he was just going to bed as I was getting up for work this morning... and he slept all day. Well, I'm just glad he is okay, and had a good time, and he's back home safe and sound. We also had our office time together and talked about the interesting tidbits of the day.
Last night Michael made a wonderful lasagna. He sent Opera in his car to pick me up from work. It was a wonderfully fun evening, the four of us... the guys tickled me... Michael cooked... we watched interesting television shows that generated conversation, thought, and laughter. I can't tell you how many times I looked around the room trying to drink it all in, to savor it, and to remember it.
After we had all eaten, Michael turned to me and asked what I wanted for dessert. I asked what the options were, and he said, anything that was for sale at the convenience store downstairs. Well, of course, I said ice cream! We went down there and they did not have a freezer section. I was so shocked. They did sell individual ice cream treats, though, so we got ice cream on a stick and ice cream sandwiches. Everyone - and I mean all four of us - sat there happily eating ice cream in front of the TV. I have to laugh at that because of the individual(s) who protested they were so full... yet came up with enough room for dessert.
I'm just in a really great mood. I am looking forward to the weekend, hoping to relax and enjoy it. Sure, I wish the computer was hooked up so I could play Civilization III... but then again, if it were hooked up, would we all really be spending so much quality time together? Or would it be like it was before, when people were jostling over the computer from dawn until... dawn.
Even here at the office everything is pretty laid back and relaxed. We are all working on a million projects at once and occasionally the stress level starts to rise, but then I step in and tell a joke or do something that makes people laugh... and the fire level goes down to a reasonable roar. I really do feel like I have an important role with my team, to keep things humming... to keep everyone feeling good... well, at least I can try. I can't MAKE anyone do anything.
Well, today was the last day of my third online college class. The sad thing is that I have not been able to get into it due to technical difficulties beyond my control since the beginning of the year. In other words, my password stopped working and no one can figure out why. So... I have raised a stink over it and I believe they are going to enroll me in the next version of this class to make up for it. That won't be until mid-February, though. Still, I'm glad they're trying to make an effort. If I haven't heard from them by Monday morning, I'll probably give them another call, though.
One more hour and I get to leave the office. There is a lot that can be done in one hour... so I guess I'll get to it.
I don't know if I'll have a chance to get online for a couple days... so see ya when I see ya!
