The Adventures of Paisley
Blue
I
have missed getting online for a few days due to illness. This
has also caused me to miss a little work, which will be keenly
felt on payday. Still, I have to take care of my health if I
am to have any hope of working in the long run.
My
spirits were considerably brightened when the new issue of
Widdershins was distributed. My article made it to the front
page! Six of my drawings were used throughout the paper, and I
feel wonderful about it. Such a lot to add to my resume!
Wisdom had to postpone his holiday party due to
illness, and many folks at work have been calling in sick. I
guess it's just that time of year.
There is this
little mouse that invades my room. I am sure it is probably
just hungry, and smells something attractive in my room.
Perhaps it is the oranges I received at the food bank, or
maybe some wrapper in the trash bag that hangs on the
doorknob. Anyway, he comes skittering out, bold as you please,
but he will not find anything to munch on in my room.
Once I got wind of his visits, I made sure to keep any kind of
food stuffs off the floor.
I laid on the bed perfectly
still, one day, watching the mouse. I wanted to see where he
comes in and out of my room. Finally he made a run for it,
encouraged by me banging a shoe on the floor, I am sure. His
tiny body scampered beneath the fridge, to the wall behind it,
along the wall to the radiator, and into a hole where the
radiator pipe descends below. I could not believe I had not
seen that hole before. Now looking at it, this hole was as big
as blue blazes. But what to stuff it with? Anything I could
think of the li'l mouse could chew right through. I'm not
trying to fatten him up...
I've put in multiple
requests to have the hole repaired, but so far no action. In
the meantime, I try to deprive him of reasons to visit me by
keeping my room as clean as possible.
Today is the
Winter Solstice, with only about 8 hours of daylight compared
to 16 hours of daylight at Summer Solstice. At least that is
what I heard on the news this morning. I have been observing
the sky and nature all around me, trying to see things as they
really are... trying to live in the moment.
I have a
lot of hopes for the new year. I also hope your holidays are
bright.
