Synopsis: Embittered and broken, once beloved physician Ethan Foster shuts down emotionally after he is unable to save the woman he loves. He hides away, psychologically traumatized, wasting his gift to heal others. Workaholic by day and alcholic by night, he fights inner demons becoming more reclusive with each anniversary of that icy November night. On the brink of self-destruction, fate takes him away from the American dream lifestyle of Maryland and whisks him off to the exotic, sacred island of Molokai where a mysterious woman helps him conquer his demons while mending his heart. Light shines in his life again until his new love's past brings disaster to the island threatening everything he cherishes. Haunted by fear and guilt over his previous failure, Ethan now finds his lover's life is once again in his hands. Will his actions bring redemption or another failure that will shatter his world forever. Reviews & Comments: Ethan lives and breathes. I don't usually read through this length but it was compelling. In the passion, and the moral, and theme of the story ... that life goes on despite its setbacks and pain, and how that may require a shaman of sorts ... we can root for Ethan to find himself. You have the writer's touch, Sam. - William "Bill" Cannon ** ** These comments are in regards to a short version of Dark Eyes that was used for a writing assignment in Write Like a Pro.
