The Diamond Throne of India, also known as Vajrasana in Sanskrit or Dorje Den in Tibetan, is the seat of enlightenment where Lord Buddha Sakyamuni attained enlightenment, and is located in the present day Bodhgaya in Bihar, India. It is the place where all the 1002 Buddhas of this fortunate kalpa are to attain enlightenment, and Lord Buddha Sakyamuni was the fourth Buddha of this kalpa. It is said that even in the universal destruction at the end of the kalpa, the four elements cannot harm it, and it remains there as if suspended in space. Therefore, the merits generated from making prayers at this sacred place are immeaurable, especially during this age of degeneration.

"Bodhgaya is a highly sacred place that surpasses any other place and the utterance of prayers like the Prayer of Wholesome Conduct and Invocation of Manjushri by His Name, makes Nyingma Monlam Chenmo a highly sacred event.
Moreover, it is free from the breath of politics and is thus the most appropriate place to cleanse away the obscurations of all sentient beings."
