You would think spending most of my day lying down, either in bed or on the couch, would make the time go so slow. For some time now I'd been in remission from my FMS. But what goes up must come down. And like anyone who has FMS can tell you, remissions never last! So I've spent a good share of my time reading, staring at the ceiling, or looking out the window - watching the palm trees blow in the wind. A few times I was able to spend a short amount of time outside on the swing...reclining of course. Little by little I've been able to sit for short periods of time. There really isn't anything that can be done, except to try to keep a positive outlook. I've learned alot about FMS and myself over the 22 years I've been sick. One thing I know for certain is that a positive outlook does help. I try not to dwell on losing my remission, instead I try to think of things that make me happy. I also spend alot of time outside in my "eden" as I call it. My oldest brother, Mark, helped to create my "eden". My "eden" consists of a beautiful purple flowering tree, with a waterfall, fountain, and small pond nestled underneath. Around the pond are flowers, bushes, etc. A small stone wall separates the pond from the yard. My mom has painted statues, and they stand on the stone wall. Next to the wall is my swing. I sit in that swing for hours, my eyes closed, listening to the sound of the water trickling down the waterfall. To me, it's one of the most peaceful places on earth. ![]() ![]() I'm proud to say that I voted for Gore and Lieberman. What I'm not proud of was the way the Presidential election was handled. Between all the votes not being counted, and the people turned away from the polling places, it was a total mockery of our rights! I was always the person who shouted, "Get out and vote, every vote counts!" Obviously, we all know now that every vote doesn't count. Hell, most of them are never counted! Yesterday was election day for the local government offices. It was also the first time in 22 years that I didn't get out and vote. I'm sure I wasn't alone. It's a damn shame to realize that our country is no longet the free nation it claims to be. How can it be when elections are bought, electors are turned away at polling places, and the Supreme Court of this country plays partisian politics, instead of doing what is right for the country! ![]() | |||||
