Saturday I was invited to go fishing on my brother-in-law's boat. His son-in-law came, as well as my brother and his son. I'd never been out on the ocean fishing before, so it was definitley a new experience for me. I couldn't get over how beautiful the water was. So clear you could see the bottom at 60 feet. The shallow water was a bright sky blue, and the deeper water was a sparkling emerald color.
We started out about 8:30 am, and fished a section not too far away from the inlet. We caught several fish, but they were all too small to keep. One fish my brother caught was smaller than the sardines we were using. (lol) We moved a little farther up the coast and settled in for some fishing in the new spot. We didn't have much luck there, so we moved again. This time my brother caught a barracuda. As he was bringing the fish in an even bigger barracuda showed up. My sister was hoping we didn't bring that one on board as they are a nasty looking thing.
Once we had moved to another location I began to catch fish. I started out catching a small thing. After I threw him back in I got another hit on my line. This time I brought in a good sized trigger fish...and we kept him. I threw my line out again and caught another one, even bigger than the first. I was kind of glad when we decided to call it a day and head towards the marina. My arms and shoulders were killing me from reeling in from a depth of 200 feet, as well as fighting 3 fish in a row. After 6 hours in a boat, and no sunscreen, I looked like a lobster. I don't look quite as red today, but I'm definitely feeling the effect of strain on my arms and shoulders. But like my Dad used to say when he felt like shit for no apparent reason, at least I know what caused it and it was worth every bit of the agony I'm enduring now.
