How To Submit Materials For Your Website

This page is a guide on what material we need from you and the most optimum ways of getting those materials to us. If you properly prepare the material that you give to us it will speed up the process of building your website. Less time in development could mean less cost for you.

How To Prepare Your Page Text

  • Set up a separate word processor file for each Web page. Several different formats are acceptable however we prefer Microsoft Word (.doc), Plain Text (.txt) or Rich Text (.rtf) documents. Please save your files with names that correspond to the pages, i.e., home.doc, contact.txt, products.rtf, etc.

  • Text documents should be in their final form when submitted to us. Minor changes to your text as the site is being developed is expected however we will charge additional fees if we are required to provide editing or copy writing services. If your pages contain specially formatted data such as lists or tables, please submit them to us that way. Especially long pages that require more than the normal formatting time may also be subject to additional charges.

Graphics Preparation

  • Graphics may be submitted in either digital form or hard copy which we will scan. We prefer hard copies when available as we have better control of the finished image.

  • Each image must have a label. The easiest way is to attach a PostIt Note to the back of the photo with its caption and the name of the page it goes on.

  • If your site requires additional graphic elements you cannot supply and we need to design please send detailed descriptions, rough sketches, photo of a similar image, etc. An additional hourly charge may be added for these items. Again, the better you can convey your ideas the less time it will take to implement them.

  • Color schemes, textures and patterns to be used in the background and navigational graphics will be discussed before work is started. You will be allowed two changes to any one of these elements. Additional changes will be assessed our hourly rate.

  • A large number of photos on a web page is not recommended due to the excessive download times. For any more than two it is better to use thumbnails (very small copies which link to a larger view) of the images. If your site uses this method, please label as above and specify the order in which the images are to be placed on the page.
