What Does A Website Cost?
The cost of your web site can be calculated hourly, per page
or per job depending on what you prefer. Generally we find a per
page price easier to work with. While all web sites are certainly
not the same, the following 2 pricing schedules are designed to
create a balance between low cost and great service and should be
used to get a ballpark figure of cost.
Option 1 offers quality at a lower price.
First page is $200.00. Each additional page is priced according
to the following scale.
Up to 10 pages

and additional programming may require extra fees.
What Do I Get With A Website?
Our web sites are fully customizable and may include the
features listed below depending on which option you choose.
Web Page Features
Consultation
Knowing the purpose of a website is the first step in a
successful development effort. Many sites are put online
because "the other guy has one". Some businesses
may not do well on the internet, others very well. It is
important for you to determine if your business will benefit
from what the web offers before you invest the time and money.
Text Preparation
Unlike the printed page, a web page can be as long as you want.
However it is best to limit the amount of scrolling that a visitor
has to do to reach the bottom. We recommend a limit of 5-6 screens.
Research has also shown that the ideal line length for reading is
about 10 words. Gibson Grafx makes use of tables or style sheets to
format text to optimize readability. Text can be provided to us
electronically via e-mail, on a floppy (pc formatted), zip disk, or
printed. Printed pages will incur additional scanning charges. Text
should be in its final form or there could be charges for editing.
See How To Submit Materials For Your
Website for helpful information.
Main page title graphic
The main graphic on your front page is the door to your site and
must be inviting. It should give the visitor a feel for who you
are and the purpose of your site. At Gibson Grafx we excel at
designing just the right look. We will start with your existing
logo, if you have one, and develop the image that best represents
your business or project.
Second Level Title Graphic
This is the main graphic at the top of the interior pages. The
second level title graphic serves several different purposes.
Often it incorporates navigation. It provides a title
for the page and helps to provide continuity for the site.
Navigational graphics
Navigation is achieved through the use of buttons, most often
down the side, bars, image maps, and text links. Most sites
benefit from a combination of these methods, ensuring that all
visitors are able to take advantage of your entire site.
Javascript Mouseovers
This is what is used to cause one image to change into another
when the mouse moves over it. Also call "rollovers".
Background graphic
Gibson Grafx will provide an appropriate background image or
color to enhance the entire theme of your website. The design
process will start with a color preference from a client. The
image or color chosen is very important. It can make or break
the legibility of the written word. Any image that is used as
a background must not interfere with the text on top of it. It
is also important to remember that the web browser allows a
user to specify his own colors. It is possible that a dark
background and light text could be utterly unreadable should a
visitor come to your site with their default background color
set as white. Printing also becomes a problem with light text
as backgrounds do not print when printing a web page.
One recommended method consists of using a border background
which is a white or very light background color with a strip
of coordinating and contrasting color or pattern down the left
side.
Bullet and divider graphics
Gibson Grafx will provide these as needed.
Photos and Graphics
A website can be greatly enhanced with the placement of
appropriate photos or graphics. Though a picture may be worth
a thousand words, on the web that picture will take much longer
to download. It is vitally important that all images used be
designed to convey the ideas necessary while not causing long
wait times for your visitors. Gibson Grafx is very adept at
reducing images to their minimum size while maintaining an
acceptable picture quality. When large images are necessary,
thumbnails are best employed.
We will scan any images you already have or find the appropriate
images from our extensive image libraries.
E-Mail Link
Links to your E-Mail address is provided on every page of
your site for the convenience of your visitors.
Response Form
The easiest way for your visitors to contact you is with an
e-mail response form. If you are in the business of selling,
it is an excellent way for a customer to ask for more information
about a product or service. Since you can ask for their name,
address, and phone number it is a good way for you to develop
a database of potential customers.
Keywords, Descriptions and Meta Tags
Proper preparation of the pages with keywords, descriptions and
Meta Tag are vital to the successful ranking of your website
with the search engines.
The meta description tag is used to assist those search engines
which are meta capable in summarizing your website. It must
tell the reader what they will find on the website. The size
of the meta description tag should be under 200 characters.
It is important that the first text on your pages contain a
summary paragraph of your web page which can be used by the
Search Engines which do not use the meta tags. It should
contain the common keywords and phrases that will be used in
searching for your site. It should also be under 200 characters
in length.
Better results can be obtained with the keywords meta tag by
using a narrow set of keywords than you do with a broad set.
Each page should have its own set of key words and unique
description. This also means that each page needs to be
registered individually with the search engines.
Installing Your Web Pages
Once your site is completed it will need to be put online. This
can either be with your ISP (Internet Service Provider) or an
independent hosting company. We will work with which ever
option you choose to get your directories set up and your Web
site working. See Hosting
Maintenance
The package price includes two hours of maintenance time
per month for updates or changes for twelve months.
Additional time needed will be billed at an hourly rate
of $35.00. Maintenance time may not be used for new page
construction. Additional pages will be billed for separately.
Maintenance charges after the first year are discounted
depending on the amount of time needed per month.
