Agate Box

Orange Agate Box

I made this for the Foreman of Comfort Fit Orthotics, for the Christmas 1999/2000. It's a simple box, but it came out very elegant. I wanted to keep it for myself when I was done. The sides are made from Wissmach orange. And the background glass has some kind of worm like texture to it, kind of hard to describe. Originally these weren't the colors I wanted. The first colors I had in mind was Armstrong (orange, yellow and brown, wispy mix), and clear crackle for the background. I had neither. The sides had to be orange, it wouldn't look good in any other color. It took several sheets of glass and about an hour of looking, but finally came up with a winning combo. The base is mirror, and it reflects all the colors, add in the clear texture and it sparkles. The base has cork dots on it to keep the mirror from scratching.
