2-28-99 - The upper wall is now in place, this is one of the last parts of the main dome.
Everything went smoothly for this part of the project. I really didn't know what colors I was going to use until I was ready. I chose a white/tan mottle for the main part of the wall. And the Uroboros tan (that I'm going to use in the main walls), for the window frames. The windows was originally going to be a sunset, like the dome. But I didn't have enough of the glass, and it wouldn't have looked right. I did like it orange though. I found to potential colors, Youghiogheny yellow/orange stipple and Desag yellow/orange clear. I chose Desag, because I wanted an extra brilliance.
I started to trace it out on the Desag, but the glass was never going to match the Kokomo. I erased the lines. Instead I turned the glass so the lines were going vertically, instead of horizontally. Now it looks more like a light house. That color orange looked more like a flame in the first place. I had to make sure the streaks of orange were in the center, to be more flame like.
I'm glad I use that color. Now that part of the building has a use, it's the light house to signal in the air ships that they had then. The columns are a light yellow, I layered it with clear Fibroid. The Fibroid has a randomly, tight textured grain, that is the right scale for this project. The yellow used had a light texture on the back. The combination of the texture and Fibroid, through the light gives the impression of a round rough column. Hopefully there will be enough light up there, to enjoy this effect.
