It's almost silly that I made this part so detailed. You see it's on the bottom of the lamp. The only people who will see it, are people who will be sitting underneath the lamp. There is a chair near by so it will be visible. It wouldn't be like me to make it basic and boring.
The yellow strips are represent the beams holding Sky City up. Originally I wanted to have the beams shaded to give a weaved or stacked look. But the glass didn't have enough shading depth, so I scrapped that idea. The bulk of the glass is opalescent, and iridescent. This part of the lamp will be thick, not much light is going to travel through it. You can still see some of the solder lines from the floor above it though.
Above is a detail of the corner. Mainly it's a design, but it's not supposed to look like it favors any one design. When Sky City was originally built some 10,000 years ago, it was made up of people from many races and cultures. Each influence can be seen in Sky City. After the city was built, they moved on to make their own cities, using their own architectural influences.
