        Momma's Best No-Salt Chicken Soup:

Large Soup Pot, 6 quarts or more

Chicken; at least 3 or more pounds, any inexpensive parts ie. wings, backs, skeleton.(note: I accumulate chicken parts that my family isn't too fond of, in my freezer.)

Water to cover chicken and fill to within one to two inches from the top of the pot.

        2 carrots, cleaned and sliced,

3 stalks celery, cleaned and sliced, include tops with leaves.

1 handfull dill weed (fresh is best), washed and chopped,

        2 turnips, peeled and sliced,

        2 parsnips, peeled and sliced,

1 handfull of fresh parsley, washed and chopped,

1 large yellow onion or 2 medium, peeled, halved and sliced,

If you don't have the fresh veggies, you may substitute frozen or dehydrated ones in an emergency.

Wash chicken well, removing any excess visible fat, put in pot. Fill pot with fresh water and set on stove to come to a boil. Meanwhile prepare the soup vegetables as directed above. Add the veggies, and let return to a boil.

Reduce heat and let simmer far as many hours you can spare..2 minimum, the longer the better!

Periodically give the soup a stir.

At the end of desired cooking time, you have several options:

        1) Pour the soup through a strainer for clear soup.
        2) Either put chicken bits back in the soup or reuse in another dish like chicken salad or chicken curry.
        3) Put the soup veggies in a blender to puree and add back to the soup for more nutrition and as a natural thickener.
        4) If you have the time, cool the soup, refrigerate overnight and skim the hardened fat off the top (much healthier).
        5) You can freeze portions of the soup in the freezer for stock or future soup at this time.
        6) For immediate use, add some fresh ground pepper to taste, (a little salt if you must use it, but taste first) and serve with rice, noodles, motzo balls or dumplings
        7) Be prepared for the hugs and kisses

Lovingly prepared in the kitchen of Momma Nightowl

        The Famous Neiman-Marcus Cookie Hoax..

Has a good cookie recipe though!!!!!

Disclaimer: Folks.. this is just a story and not truth!!!

        The story..

My daughter and I had just finished a salad at Neiman-Marcus Cafe in Dallas and decided to have a small dessert. Because both of us are such cookie lovers, we decided to try the "Neiman-Marcus Cookie".

It was so excellent that I asked if they would give me the recipe and the waitress said with a small frown, "I'm afraid not. "Well, I said, would you let me buy the recipe?" With a cute smile, she said ,"Yes." I asked how much, and she responded, "only two fifty, it's a great deal!" I said with approval, "just add it to my tab."

Thirty days later, I received my VISA statement from Neiman-Marcus and it was $285.00. I looked again and I remembered I had only spent $9.95 for two salads and about $20.00 for a scarf. As I glanced at the bottom of the statement, it said, "Cookie Recipe - $250.00." That's outrageous!!!!!!

I called Neiman's Accounting department. and told them the waitress said it was "two-fifty," which clearly does not mean "two hundred and fifty Dollars" by any *POSSIBLE* interpretation of the phrase. Neiman-Marcus refused to budge.

They would not refund my money, because according to them, "What the waitress told you is not our problem. You have already seen the recipe we absolutely will not refund your money at this point."

I explained to her the criminal statutes which govern fraud in Texas, I threatened to refer them to the Better Business Bureau and the State's Attorney General for engaging in fraud. I was basically told, "Do what you want, we don't care, and we're not refunding your money."

I said, "Okay, you folks got my $250, and now I'm going to have $250.00 worth of fun." I told her that I was going to see to it that every cookie lover in the United States with an e-mail account has a $250.00 cookie recipe from Neiman-Marcus for free. She replied, "I wish you wouldn't do this." I said, "Well, you should have thought of that before you ripped me off and refused to correct this error."

So here it is!!!!!!     Please, please, please (DON'T)pass it on to everyone you can possibly think of. I paid $250 Dollars for this recipe. (BOGUS)

        The Recipe!!
