Welcome all to Louisville! It's Derby time again!
Time to make some history, that's how it all begins.
A special celebration, not all would understand.
Let me tell you what it takes to be a Derby Fan.
First you take some thunder and you toss it in the sky.
Some may have to hold their ears, it makes the babies cry.
Then you take your finest hat, adorn your head just so.
A Pegasus on your lapel so everyone will know.
You line the streets and fight the crowd, the Pegasus to see.
The annual parade of stars is Derby history.
You never know just who you'll meet in our small town this day.
Many famous Derby fans could likely come your way
The parties, music, art events will keep you entertained,
While jockeys groom their horses, saddle up and grab the reigns.
The Oaks is run the day before and gives us all a taste.
All the finest fillies will be running in this race.
Then Derby Day is finally here the race will soon be run.
Now grab yourself a Julep, and come out and join the fun.
I have shared some of my secrets, so now you too can start,
to share our celebration that is this small towns heart.
A special time of fun and friends. a time to spread good cheer.
Come taste a piece of history and celebrate this year!
