My Kentucky Derby Page

I first began writing poems about 10 years ago. The first one I wrote was about the Kentucky Derby.  The Kentucky Derby Festival is about the biggest event around here.  For some of the locals it has even become an annual holiday.
I wouldn't be much of a citizen if I didn't at least mention the Derby, especially since the festivities are just about to begin.
Anyway....for this years contribution I have decided to write a poem, and a story called "The History of the Kentucky Derby".  This is purely a fictional account made up just for fun, but it sounded good anyway so I thought I would share it with my friends.
