I wish I could say the title of this song is mine.  But it isn't.
It's the title of a drama by that brilliant English playwright, Christoper Fry.
He is almost forgotten today, which is a shame, because with all
the revivals in both the British and American theatre,
it's about time someone rediscovered him.

The Dark is Light Enough

This isn't what I thought love would be,
All silver bells and summer skies---
If only I'd been taught love would be
Bewilderment and compromise.

The dark is light enough,
The moon is dim;
What's wrong is right enough
When loving him.
Sometimes he's cold and remote,
There's little meeting of the minds.
But what is it Shakespeare once wrote?
"Love is not love
"Which alters
"When it alteration finds."
The dark is light enough,
The clouds suffice;
The dusk is bright enough
In paradise.
I know the things I would change,
I know the things that we lack;
But the dark is light enough
When you cannot turn back.
