Reflection in a Pair Of Sun Glasses
She was only
A reflection
In a pair of sunglasses,
Standing all alone against
the sea.
And I stared at
Her reflection
In my pair of sunglasses
And pretended she was
close to me.
I could see us coming
home
After hours on the beach,
I could see her fix a
drink to quench my thirst;
I could see us hand in
hand
In the twilight on the
porch
And hear her say,
"You go and shower first."
I could see us in the
winter,
In the fall and in the
spring---
So I turned around
And sat up straight,
Prepared for all that
fate
Would bring---
