I can hear some of you now:  "Didn't I read a song of that title quite some time ago?"
Well, yes.  That song was called What Might Have Been and this song is called
Think What Might Have Been, and the truth of the matter is that they are
both based on the same idea---but interpreted differently.  The other is a
contemporary love song, and this one is from my operetta, Gypsy Dawn (click on the
Ruysdael below), and it is done in the style of operetta---which means that in the other "been"
is pronounced "bin" and in this one "been" is "bean".  (he-he)

Think What Might Have Been

We search for years to find the one for us,
The one who'll be the moon and sun for us.
I used to view this all with disbelief---
I found the one, but it was oh, so brief.

Springtime,
The world full of fragrance,
The trees dressed in green.
We'd have known the springtime together---
Oh, think what might have been!

Our arms
Entwined in each other's
When day has begun.
We'd have felt this rapture together---
Oh, think what we'd have done!
Each hour a highlight,
Our hearts are burning,
Walks in the twilight,
Whispers of yearning.
Romance,
A lifetime of romance,
A lifetime serene---
We'd have had that romance together---
Oh, think what might have been!
Just think what might have been.
