RECORD OF LODOSS WAR
"PROLOGUE TO THE LEGEND"
---------------------------------------------
Narrator :
The war between the gods of light and darkness reached a climax in
which the mother goddess of the earth, Marfa, and the malevolent goddess,
Kardis, battled to the end.
After the fierce battle, the two goddesses perished like a flame flickering
away on the newly created land which was separated by the battle.
This land was later named by the people as the cursed island, "Lodoss."
--------------------------
-The six travellers toss their rain clloaks on the various statues in the
tunnel.-
Woodchuck (Wood): So...this is the "Great Dwarves' Tunnel." You
could sell dwarves' crafts for a fortune.
Slayn There was probably a great workmen's city here.
-Ghim crushes part of an ancient wall design with his hand.-
Ghim: Hmph
That was ages ago.
Wood So...do we really gotta go through here t' get to Wort?
Slayn There are safer paths to travel, but we haven't got the time.
-Deedlit jumps down from a small ledgee.-
Deedlit (Deed) It's very musty.
Ghim If you don't like it, then wait here. That way, an elf won't be
intruding onto my ancestors' grounds.
Deed What did you say?
Ghim Hmph
Eto Ghim, Deedlit, stop it. If we don't meet Wort in time, all of Lodoss
will be in peril.
Deed I know, but...
Parn I'm only doing this cuz I want to. You don't have to come with me if you
don't want to.
Deed
What did you say?
Eto This isn't the time for this, you two.
-Gargoyles come to life-
Slayn Wha'?
Ghim Hmm
-The gargoyle attacks, and Woodchuck iis dragged downward with the
gargoyle. He draws out his dirk and kills the gargoyle as they land on the
ground.-
Parn
Wood
-Slayn points to a tunnel.-
Slayn Get inside. It's too dangerous.
-Parn grabs Woodchuck.-
Parn All right. Let's move it.
-The others leave, while Slayn is leftt alone.-
Slayn: -He begins to chant when they leave-
-spell-
That which was born from combining the almighty source and the
infinte power and forged by the god, shed your false clothing and appear in
your true form, becoming the barrier to protect us. The almighty source and
the infinite power. The almighty source and the infinite power.
-He repels the gargoyle back-
The almighty source and the infinite power. The almighty source and the
infinite power. The almighty source and the infinite power.
-The gargoyles are struck and once agaain are turned back into stone,
crumbling into pieces. The others are in the treasure room.-
-Woodchuck is looking at an old, unfinnished statue.-
Wood: I wish they would've finished this. We could get a fortune for this stuff.
-Deedlit finds a beautiful necklace annd puts it on.-
Deed: Ooh, how pretty.
-She turns to Parn-
Hey, how do I look?
Parn: This isn't the time for that.
Eto: You look great.
Deed: Thanks.
Ghim: Who's there?
-Slayn enters the room, weak and wearyy.-
Slayn: Feels like an evil presence is interfering.
-Back outside, the wind is blowing in the night. At a castle, an old man, Wort,
is sitting at a table, reading a large book. The wind suddenly begins blowing
in the room. Wort hears a voice.-
Karla: They say that naught can outlast time.
Hath it been that long since the battle was fought within the labyrinth?
-Karla, the witch, suddenly begins to appear.-
Wort: Who's there?
Karla: Were thou not the one who protected me when thou charged into the horde
of monsters, Wort?
Wort: Wha'?
Karla: It appeareth thou remember the old legends, my fellow "Six Heroes."
Wort: But..
Karla: A body is merely an image, for in history, the era is insignificant.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back at the Tunnel
-The others are walking around, still trying to find the exit.-
Parn: How much longer?
Slayn: We can't do anything except trust Ghim's instinct.
Ghim: Just the size of this mammoth tunnel's legendary.
Wood: Yo, hey, I'm leavin' it t' ya, but I don't wanna die in this place. Okay?
Ghim: Don't worry. This tunnel isn't a maze. We'll reach the exit soon enough.
Deed: Hmph, it sure takes a long time when a dwarf guides, doesn't it? This place
sure gives me the creeps.
-They pass by a small pedestal in the wall which contains a beautiful
object. It catches Deedlit's eyes-
Deed: Ah
-She steps up to it to touch it-
Ghim: No. Don't touch that.
Deed: Wha'?
-As Deedlit looks toward Ghim in confuusion, the object sinks, catching her hand
in between one of the handles. As the others look on, the pedestal begins to
lower, and stone pillars begin to come out from the wall.-
-Parn runs toward her.-
Parn: Deed
Let go.
-He grabs her hand, trying to pull herr out-
Deed: My hand...
-Parn gets pulled in with Deedlit, whiile the others are left standing,
watching them as they go lower and lower.-
Eto: Parn
Ghim: Oh shit
Eto: Deed
-At a castle, King Faunn is standing oon the balcony. His thoughts dwell to the
past.-
Flashback:
-At his court, Parn is kneeling beforee King Faunn.-
Fahn: So, you are venturing forth to find Wort.
Parn: Yes, the Marmo army has already captured Kannon and Alania. We must
place our fighting strength here in Vallis.
Fahn: However, there is no guarantee that Wort will tell you anything or that there
will be any guarantee of a safe return.
Parn: I know, but there's no other who knows so much about that witch, Karla.
Fahn: Hmm
That armor...
Parn It's a keepsake of my father, Your Majesty's former retainer.
-Fade back to the present on the balcony.-
Kashue: King Faunn
Fahn: Oh, it is you, Lord Kashue.
Kashue: The boy who calls himself Parn, he's a fine lad. He has a bright future ahead
of him.
Fahn: I never thought I would have been able to meet Teseus's son. No, I
thought I had to go to see him.
Kashue: Teseus?
Fahn: I have never cursed my position as I did then.
Parn, come back alive.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back at the Tunnel
-Parn and Deedlit are in a large room with large chunks of concrete
scattered all over.-
Parn What kind of place is this?
Deed Looks like we've been invited to some secret palace.
-Parn notices some concrete glowing wiith a strange light.-
Parn What's that?
Deed Oh, don't you know?
-She walks over and scrapes some glowiing particles from the concrete until
her hands start to glow. She shows Parn, giggling-
Look.
-She claps her hand, and there is a brief flash of light-
Parn Anyway, we gotta get out of here as soon as possible and find the
others.
-He notices one of the large concrete--
Wha'?
Deed What's wrong?
-Parn wipes off part of the dust on thhe concrete.-
Parn Look.
Deed This is...
Parn Looks like a mural.
Deed Wait.
-spell-
Fairy of light, mother power that nurtures plants, come to me.
-As Deedlit incants the spell, a flashh of light appears in her cupped
hand. This ball of light begins to rise up toward the ceiling, creating
enough light for the two to see. Near the ceiling ia a mural of dragons and of
a battle.-
Parn This is...
Deed I've heard of this once. The era came to an end with the battle. The supreme
god of darkness, Falalis, drew out the virtuous, ancient dragons and evil gods
to battle against Falis's power of light. Although the light was strong, the
malevolent power was overpowering. As the result, the gods were destroyed
by their own powers.
-As she finishes, the light fades- >
It's an old myth.
Parn: They were destroyed by their own powers.
Deed: I guess it means that they were probably too strong for each other.
Parn: If they were really that strong, wasn't all that fighting unnecessary?
Deed: Parn, those are strange words coming from a guy who wants to be a hero.
Parn: Well, uh, it's just that...
Deed: I don't understand you humans at all. But that's what makes you
interesting!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On the Other Side of the Tunnel
Slayn: -spell-
Give unto my staff, the power to banish darkness.
-His staff begins to glow, brighteningg the room-
Wood: Well now, ya've something useful.
Eto: We have to hurry up and rescue Parn.
Ghim Don't worry about it. The elf's with him.
-He puts his finger to his mouth and tthen checks the air flow-
She can find her way out using the air flow in the tunnel.
Wood Hah, I don't get it. For a dwarf who hates elves, ya're takin' her side.
Ghim Shut up. Only humans would let their feelings get in the way about
other's capabilities.
Wood: Hah
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back to Parn and Deedlit
-Deedlit stands on a pedestal in the ccenter of the room. She motions her hand
out and begins a spell.-
Deed: -spell- Sylph, fairy of the wind, guide me through with the flow of your
wind. Sylph, fairy of the wind, guide me through with the flow of your wind.
-The wind begins to blow, and Parn loooks on as Deedrit begins to float
upwards. The wind takes her in the proper direction-
Thank you, Sylph.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back at Wort's Castle
-Both are watching Parn and Deedlit inn the crystal ball.-
Wort One of the "Six Heroes" being feared as the "Grey Witch?" What are you
scheming?
Karla Dost thou know there lieth a dragon that hateth to be awakened at the end
of the tunnel?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back at the Tunnel
-Deedlit is leading Parn out when she suddenly stops and jumps back.-
Deed: Wha?
Parn: What's wrong, Deed?
-At the same moment elsewhere, Slayn sstops also, looking shocked.-
Slayn: Wha'?
Wood: Hey, what's wrong? Why did ya suddenly stop?
Eto: Slayn, is there something wrong?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back With Parn and Deedlit
-They stay back within the tunnel, lisstening to the dragon's footsteps.-
Parn: Deed
Deed: Shh...don't make a sound.
-The dragon looks around a collapsed sstructure.-
Parn: I'll lead him off. Get out through that opening.
Deed: Don't say such nonsense. Oops
-The dragon attacks. Parn tries to deffend themselves with his sword.-
Parn: Deed, what's his weakness?
Deed: How am I supposed to know that?
Parn: Shit
-Parn tries to thrust forward, but thee dragon catches his sword with its
tongue, tossing it away.-
Oh shit
-As Parn and Deedlit prepare themselvees for the fire, a force field protects
them from harm.-
Slayn
-As they look up, the others arrive too the ledge overlooking the room.-
Eto: Are you all right?
Wood: This is a surprise.
-The dragon's tail sweeps over the leddge, knocking everyone except Ghim off.
Slayn falls, losing conscious.-
Eto: Slayn
Wood: Are ya all right?
-He turns toward the dragon-
Shit. We're no good t' eat.
Ghim We'll eat him first.
-As Deedlit makes it to the others. Paarn is solely fighting the dragon.-
Deed: Parn's in danger. Ghim, what're you doing?
Ghim: Shut up. A dwarf has his own way of fighting.
Deed Parn
-Ghim jumps off the ledge as Deedlit sscreams and rushes toward the
dragon with his battleaxe. He takes it and drives it down on the dragon's
nose.-
Parn
Ghim
-As the dragon tries to shake it off. Ghim is thrown away. Parn and Deedlit go
to him.-
Deed
Ghim
-As the dragon reels in pain, Parn takkes out his sword.-
Parn It's now or never.
-He drives it up the dragon's chin, woounding it. The dragon twists and turns
in pain, shaking the room which begins to collapse.-
Come on.
-They rush out into one of the tunnel branches. They keep running.-
Eto: All right. It's the exit.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back at Wort's Castle
-They see the entire situation in the crystal ball.-
Wort: Looks like they've gotten through that trouble. Now then...
Karla: Leave us wait. 'Tis why I travelled this far.
Wort: It has nothing to do with me, but Lodoss is trembling.
Karla: The balance of history swayeth to settle itself. 'Tis all I ask for.
-In the crystal ball, the six adventurrers walk happily along, continuing with
their journey.-
Narrator: Their adventure has just begun, and they will have many more
confrontations as they venture onward to their uncertain destiny.
-Karla looks on.-
