Narrator :
The war between the gods of light and darkness reached a climax in
which the mother goddess of the earth, Marfa, and the malevolent goddess,
Kardis, battled to the end.
After the fierce battle, the two goddesses perished like a flame flickering
away on the newly created land which was separated by the battle.
This land was later named by the people as the cursed island, "Lodoss."

Narrator The empire of darkness, which Beld rules over, is known as the evil island,
Marmo, which is located south of Lodoss.
