Sir Rhino's idea. . . What do we look like? (Jasmine) (03-May-2000 )

When I asked for help naming my characters, Sir Rhino told us about a thread that appeared on another board when someone wanted to change their Nick.

Sooooooo. . . Based on our Nicknames, what do you think we look like?

This sounds like soooooooooo much fun!

Jasmine>^..^<

Off the top of my head (tOM) (03-May-2000)

Which is the only way to do it. I hope that I got everyone. Note bene - this is NOT (Necessarily) what I think of YOU. This is the image that your chosen nick evokes in my mind. OK? No offense intended in the slightest.

Jasmine - Wears a light green gossamer (sp) dress with puffy sleaves. Dark brown hair in a page boy with a flip.
Kalina - blond. To big to be pixieish, but that's where her inclinations lie.
Shal - Not brooding, but a mother hen with a heart for everyone. She has the sea and the sun in her eyes.
Vir - The MAN. Hunking, but not menacing. The giant, but not necessarily the gentle giant.
Blind Man - The seer (and the see-er). He may be blind, but his humor sees to root of the human condition.
Souteastern Gal (AKA - TPG) - Dark, clerical. Knows joys that others are unaware of. Sees the world on two planes at once.
Bruce - Elfin. Legolas in the city. Dark.
Lonegungrll - Tonya Harding without the mean streak. Blond. Tough. It's not just a facade, but underneath it, a warm heart.
Norville - A hidden character. A voice from the shadows. Knowledgeable, hidden, not threatening, but not known.
trurl - Norville's twin, but hides not in shadow but in silver. Too bright to be seen directly.
Haeli - The northern girl. Blond and furs. Capable. Warmth in an Arctic waste.
pookha - Zathras in female form.
AVorlon - A cyborg Vorlon. Half machine, half being of pure energy. Always a mystery which will show up.
Corwin, The Master Physicist - Merlin in a lab coat. Younger, but someday he'll get those bushy eyebrows right.
LtCol Stickler - Patton, when he's pretending to be humble. Natty dresser. Standing in a field of mud in spit polished boots. God is in the details.
SysCrusher - Mangle those platters. Consumate computer geek. Sits behind his console, seeking for the one piece of software or hardware that will finally allow him to rule the world.
Raz - Brown hair, plaid kilt, definitely Scottish. Heather - gloaming - but you're in trouble if you want to go roaming with her!
Tammy - Southern (why am I thinking of Sandra Dee?) Accent that you could cut with a butter knife.
Inquisitor - Dapper and dangerous. No blunt instraments here.
kitster - Sleek, a wicked sense of humor. The jokemeister.
Worker Caste - Steady, reliable, dependable, tough fibre.
Lite - Light but not airy. Floats like a bubble on a sea of trouble. It will lift her up, tumble her around, but never overwhelm her.
tOM

Gee, tOM!(SouthEasternGal)(03-May-2000)

How insightful. I wonder how many you hit on the head?

I'll be back with my ownversion.

Anne

Re: Off the top of my head(Tammy ) (03-May-2000)

Sorry--I don't have a southern accent! Unless you mean Southern California! :)

Tammy

very good (pookha) (04-May-2000)

tOM that was great..

yeah, a female version of zathras comes real close.
sometimes i even talk like zathras .
just dont have the facial hair.

: }
pookha

Not a bad guess. (Norville) (05-May-2000)

>Norville - A hidden character. A voice from the shadows. Knowledgeable, hidden, not threatening, but not known.

Considering I sort of "hide" in real life, this does fit...

Norville

Opps. Forgot Sir Rhino(tOM)(03-May-2000)

Sorry Sir.

Sir Rhino - Buff. Hearty. A Beefeater. Blond, bearded and slightly unkempt.

tOM

WHOA!!! We're supposed to follow *that*??? Whew! :)))) (n/t) (Shal) (03-May-2000)

I haven't a clue... never thought about it... If I come up with something I'll let ya know :-) (nt) (Haeli) (03-May-2000)

Hmmm... Well... Just speculation, you understand... (t)(Razzle Dazzle ) (03-May-2000)

What picture to I call to mind when I think of my fellow Babblers?

Well...

tOM - An anarchist. But he definitely loves lOIS. Stocky, brown hair, brown eyes, big smile.
Shal - I'm cheating here, since I've seen her picture, but frankly, she's exactly what I pictured her, and the smile says it all.
LtCol Stickler - His fatigues have ironed-in creases. He starches his shorts. And he definitely knows where his priorities lie.
SysCrusher - Pencil behind the ear, glasses down the nose, tall and extremely good looking (okay, I can dream, right?).
Lite - Soft blond hair. Somehow I see her out in a field of flowers. Don't know why.
Corwin, the Master Physicist - Steely blue eyes and wicked sense of humor. "Things fall...move your foot!"
Southeastern Gal - Reminds me of Mrs. Sykes (my sixth grade teacher). Extremely efficient, neat as a pin, attractive, and smart!
Jasmine - The cat lady. Slanty green eyes and a secret smile. Lives with cat hair and likes it.
Kosh Kaltu - Can't help thinking of a green encounter suit and light brown hair. Okay, I know they don't go together, but that's Kosh to me.
Pookha - She's undoubtedly tiny and quick, and has a very mischievous streak.

And, since I didn't hit everybody, I have to say I can't improve on and agree with the image that tOM has of everyone (except me). Once this is all over, we need to describe ourselves and see how close the others came to how we see ourselves.

Long life, prosperity and chocolate,

RD

Razzle Dazzle

Enjoyed your list, Raz! ;))) (n/t) (Shal) (03-May-2000)

Very good (tOM) (04-May-2000)

Re: Branagh (Jasmine) (04-May-2000)

And after watching Henry and Dead Again-- watch his Hamlet!! Much better than Mel Gibson's version. It is true eye candy -- Mr. Branagh included -- and a real treat to hear. As good as Olivier's Hamlet.

Jasmine >^..^<

Wait a cotton-pickin' minute... (trurl) (04-May-2000)

Wasn't it Shal who encouraged us all to watch Branagh's Hamlet on TNT just a few short months ago? -- trurl the suspicious

I honestly don't remember (Jasmine) (04-May-2000)

I had seen it in the theater.

Jasmine >^..^<

OHH! Yes!...that was me!... (Shal) (04-May-2000)

I didn't remember his name...

Ahhhhhhh....... *big grin*

Yes. I remember now...... ;)

Shal ...

And you chide me for forgetting Sean Connery? ZAP! You're Leona Helmsley. (n/t) (trurl) (04-May-2000)

No! no no no (like John Sheridan to Delenn :) Please not that! I concede. ;) (n/t) (Shal) (04-May-2000)

Sorry, p... (trurl) (04-May-2000)

I never even heard about her magazine. I was thinking more of her active interest in education and reading. I always get educated when I go to your website.

-- trurl

Yipe! I forgot Kinnison... (trurl) (03-May-2000)

... my hero who rides to the rescue! He reminds me of that paragon of gentility and chivalry, Sean Connery.

-- trurl

Ok, let me get this straight... (Shal) (03-May-2000)

...he reminds you of Sean Connery and you FORGOT him????????

Where was your brain girl!??? LOLOLOLOL ;))))

Shal, walking away shaking her head and muttering..."she FORGOT Sean Connery????.....

Shal

"How in the heck, do you forget Sean Connery??? ...Shal continues on her way still amazed..:)... (n/t) (Shal) (03-May-2000)

Stop already, or I'll change you to Ivana Trump! (n/t) (trurl) (03-May-2000)

I happen to like Ivana Trump! :))) LOLOL! (Shal) (03-May-2000)

She's one smart cookie! :)

...but, Sean Connery.... ;)

LOL

Shal ... who is still wiping toothpaste off the wall from the last Sean impression her husband did through the bathroom door while she was brushing her teeth...

Shal

Sad, isn't it? (n/t) (trurl) (03-May-2000)

Double yipe! Greylyn, you're Anne Bancroft. (n/t) (trurl) (03-May-2000)

Now it's my turn to have a go. (Jasmine) (04-May-2000)

I really had to gather my thoughts about all of you who I've come to know over the past couple of years. My mind's eye has images of each of you that may not match your physical description, but may come closer to your essences. So, here goes. . . in no particular order

Shal -- I've seen your photo so your physical self is clearly defined in my mind, but your spirit is much stronger than you think and you have love enough to give a world.
Kalina -- tall, dark, but not oppressive with sparkling hazel eyes. An air of mystery and potential energy in every step.
Vir -- large but not imposing -- a great friendly bear who could be dangerous if you chose.
Blind Man -- somehow I see a leprechaun with all the wisdom and mischief that entails.
Southeastern Gal -- formerly TPG -- the wise woman living in the woods, tall, blue eyes, long blonde hair
Bruce -- moderately tall, very refined, a magical quality, not quite of this world
Lonegungirl -- I keep thinking of Mary Martin in Annie Get Your Gun
Norville -- very tall and lean, elegant -- prefers silk to cotton
trurl -- solid and dependable, very loyal, I see short dark hair and deep brown eyes
Haeli -- small, bright, full of fun -- curly red hair and green eyes
pooka -- dark but not frightening, lives in secret places and holds the keys to many puzzles
LtColStickler -- dapper, English country gentleman
SysCrusher -- Impeccable dressy, tidy mind, blue eyes and thinning blonde hair
Razzle Dazzle -- tall, deep auburn hair, stately, lots of "stage presence"
Worker Caste -- very strong but not heavy -- solid, dependable
Lite -- I've seen your photo so I have a picture of you -- your essence is encompassed in a broad smile -- your spirit is light and swift as a gazelle
Sir Rhino -- strong and solid -- with a boisterous laugh
tOM -- for some reason I see the rebel Strelnikov from the movie Dr. Zhivago -- without the bitterness or the mean streak
Corwin, the Master Physicist -- tall, dark-- curly black hair, winning smile
AVorlon -- mysterious -- many moods, complicated
Kosh Kaltu -- tall, slender, curly hair, rich baritone voice
Minarvia -- an imp with lots of fire and fun
Tammy -- I know you're from So. California -- I picture a deep tan, dark hair, smiling blue eyes
Kinnison -- I see King Richard Lionheart -- tall, strong, gallant and very handsome
Greylyn -- a very grande dame -- regal expression, steely grey eyes, elegant dresser
Inquisitor -- for some reason Richard Burton keeps coming to mind
Well there it is
Jasmine

'Strelnikov' (tOM) (04-May-2000)

Who the heck was he? All I remember about the movie is Ursala (at the time I was courting someone who liked like a meld of Ursala and Mary (of Peter, Paul & Mary fame).

You know, I've always thought that the 'holy band' mentioned in the hymn was John, Paul, George, and Ringo, but I'm not quite clear on the hagiagrophy of St. Ringo. So now I'm thinking that perhaps the holy band was Peter, Paul, and Mary.

tOM

Re: 'Strelnikov'. . . for some reason my answer didn't "stick" yesterday. (Jasmine) (05-May-2000)

I can't remember his birth name. As a young man he was a passionate rebel against the czars. I picture you as that committed passionate young man. Though you have the humor in your soul that he lacked. This makes you a stronger person. Strelnikov is the name he assumed when he went off to become the "avenger" for the Communist Revolution.

Jasmine >^..^<

Re: Now it's my turn to have a go. (Tammy ) (04-May-2000)

Got everything right...except for the tan. I have a Scandinavian background, so my skin is very fair. I was teased a lot at school about it, but when the skin-cancer cases went up, everyone wanted to be more like me!

Tammy

Tammy

Me too. . .(Jasmine) (05-May-2000)

Though I'm not Scandanavian, my skin is very fair, and didn't tan -- even back in the days when it was fashionable to go out and bake yourself in the sun. Living in Phoenix all my life, I took quite a bit of razzing from my peers as a youngster.

Jasmine >^..^<

LOL, that's so wrong... (Norville) (05-May-2000)

Norville -- very tall and lean, elegant -- prefers silk to cotton

I'm short and heavy, not at all elegant, and the day I prefer silk to cotton (think of what sweating does to silk, eh?) is the day someone has completely brainwashed me... :-)

Norville
