Portes (Πόρτες)

The name of the village (45km from Patras) means "doors" in Greek.

This is a completely new-discovered area; a huge crater-cave with enormous potential for long, extremely overhang and even multi pitch (!) underground sport climbing routes. It is located above the village, near a little church. Due to the underground nature of the crag, it's location is not quite obvious...

Access: From Patras pass Santomeri; after about 7km continue direct (not rightwards on the fork towards the village Portes) to a large parking below the little church. Walk to the church (200m of harsh road) and then scramble higher towards the red rock. The opening of the cave is just in front of it. Step down on the metal ladder. Totally 10-15min.

The potential is enormous! 10 sport routes have been developed so far; 5 of them reach 35-45m high and sustain a 2nd pitch!

There are also a couple of traditional routes (along the striking crack systems at the left)

Warnings:
1. If you are claustrophobic this may be not quite ok for you...
2. Despite route cleaning done, some tuffas occasionally break, especially if the rock seeps, so be careful about people below the climbers (belayer is fine if close to rock due to the extreme angle).
