| Chapter 5 |
| Howie showered & got ready to go down & meet Mrs. Robins at the diner. When he got there he noticed she was not alone, but sunny was with her. Howie walked up & greeted Mrs. Robins. “Hello Mrs. Robins.” “Hello Mr. Dorough, but please call me Jessica. Mrs. Robins sounds so formal.” “All right, but only if you call me Howie, for the same purposes.” She smiled & turned to her granddaughter. “Sunny, I would like you to meet Mr. Howard Dorough. According to your mother, he is your father.” Sunny looked up at him. She couldn’t tell that he was her father because her mother had similar features. She waved, but she remained silent. Her so-called father faced her grandmother. “How is Sarah doing?” “Not so well I’m afraid. That is why my husband & I came today instead of her. She will be happy knowing that Sunny is OK.” Sunny felt the anger boil up inside her. How dare they talk about my mom like that she thought. The anger filled her body so much that she just had to let it out. “Stop it. Stop it the both of you I don’t want to hear it.” Sunny said in anger. “Shush Sunny people are starting to stare,” Jessica Robins said. “No, not until you stop talking about my mother that way.” With that Sunny took off out of the diner & down the street. Howie got up & followed her. He caught up to her & grabbed her hand. “No let me go,” she cried. |
