1.International Peace Bureau The IPB is the world's oldest and most comprehensive international peace federation, bringing together people working for peace in many different sectors: not only pacifists but also women's, youth, labor, religious, political and professional bodies. IPB was founded in 1892 and won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1910. It has 170 member organizations, both internationals and national/local groups in over 40 countries. 2. Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) The Stockholm International Peace Research
Institute presents research on arms trade and military technology,
graphics, and links to related Internet sites; available in Swedish,
German, and English. 3. Carnegie Endowment for International Peace The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace offers information about its history and programs, along with an electronic version of the magazine Foreign Policy. 4. The Nonviolence Web This privately maintained site provides information and resources that promote nonviolent behaviors and attitudes; the site includes a weekly online magazine, discussion forums, and information about many peace organizations. Current issues like East Timor are also discussed and highlighted. 5. War, Peace and Security Guide http://www.cfcsc.dnd.ca/links/ The Canadian Department of National Defense offers a directory of war, peace, and military resources available on the Web; available in English and French. 6. PLANET PEACE: Indigenous Community Internet Project Planet Peace is dedicated to the preservation of Native American cultural and environmental concerns; the site includes recent news and links to related sites. It sees peace as a multidimensional activity and its liaisons with other aspects of social political and economic aspects of human existence. 7. Peace Corps The Peace Corps site contains information on
how to volunteer, on the agency's history, and on its current programs.
8. CND: Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament This site presents information about the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament's organization [based in 162 Holloway Road, London N7 8DQ, United Kingdom], educational programs, and current campaigns. 9.
United Nations Peacekeeping Operations The United Nations provides information on its
international peacekeeping missions keeping track of 50 years i.e., from
1948 to 1998. 10. Bosnia: Uncertain Paths to Peace http://www.nytimes.com/specials/bosnia/ The New York Times presents updates on the peace process in Bosnia, photographs, a discussion forum, and other resources. Apart from photographs, interactive essays this site gives resources for context are available, including chronologies, maps, links to other Internet sites, a glossary and who's who, a reading list and recent coverage of the Bosnian events from The New York Times. 11. Peace Resource Center http://www.wilmington.edu/PeaceRC.htm The Wilmington College Peace Resource Center has a long-standing commitment to peace and justice. Since 1975 it has taken an active role in providing peace education materials both locally and throughout the country. 12. Toda Institute for Peace and Policy Research In cooperation with other peace organizations that resist injustice and resolve conflict, the Institute aims to maximize the efforts of people of peace of all colors and creeds with a message "Dialogue of Civilizations for World Citizenship". 13. Center For World Dialogue Initiates dialogue on political, social, economic, and religious issues of global and regional concern. It also contains archives of previous 0conferences and information about the ongoing conferences. 14. Search For Common Ground Seeks workable solutions to divisive national and international conflicts. Search for Common Ground was founded in 1982 in Washington, DC, and the European Centre for Common Ground was established in Brussels in 1995. Both organizations share a vision of transforming how the world deals with conflict -- away from adversarial approaches toward cooperative solutions. To implement this vision, we carry out programs that aim to resolve conflict, and prevent violence. 15. South Asia Citizens Web http://www.mnet.fr/aiindex/ The South Asia Citizen's Web is an independent space on the net to promote dialogue and information exchange between and about South Asian citizens initiatives [located in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and in their diasporic communities]. Hague Appeal for Peace Civil Society held the largest international peace conference in history on May 11-15, 1999. Nearly 10,000 activists, government representatives and community leaders from over 100 countries attended the Hague Appeal for Peace Conference in The Hague, the Netherlands. During the four day gathering participants discussed and debated in over 400 panels, workshops and round tables mechanisms for abolishing war and creating a culture of peace in the 21st century. 19. Transcend: A Peace and Development Network TRANSCEND is a network of invited scholars- practitioners working for peace and development through action, training, dissemination, and research. 20. The Nuclear Age Peace Foundation The Nuclear Age Peace Foundation is an international education and advocacy organization focusing on issues of international peace and security. The Foundation is a non-profit, non-partisan, and Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) on the roster in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. 21. Israel / Palestine Center for Research and Information http://www.ipcri.org/mainpage.htm IPCRI, founded in Jerusalem in 1989, is the only joint Palestinian-Israeli public policy think-tank in the world. It is devoted to developing practical solutions for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. 22.
