TROY RAYMOND HUNTER

This background set was so appropriate for my Dad because, for one thing, the gent looks like him, and my Dad loved to fish...just like this, although he also did some fly-fishing and liked to run trout lines.

He was the son of a farmer and he was a farmer also until I was 15. He did not go to war..he was deferred to stay behind and farm.

My mother was Laura Lola Tilley, daughter of Charles William Tilley and Elizabeth Akins. They met at a church social which was held in a tent in those days...a "tent revival"...and they were in their mid to late 20's when they married. They were together over 40 years.

Dad loved to play the "fiddle"...he never called it a violin. He played for Square Dances and continued to play all his life. He was self-taught and learned songs "by ear".

A PEKE DAD SPEAKS...

Arf! Woof! Smokey here...the first Peke Dad! What complicated stuff! He was the son of Crosslands Smokey the Bandit and Crosslands Miss T. This is about as ancestral as he got! Below is his pic with his "grandaughter, Muffi.

Muffi & Smokey

I am the papa of Shadow The Renegade, Smokey's Tuff Stuff (Tuffy) and Prissy; a result of my liaison with Ms. Amber. Mickey, the Lordly Peke, had four kids also: Shadowrose Muffi, (pictured with me) Little Joe Mistymop Marauder, Ranger Red Chief and Brandi Bear. He and Prissy became "close" to produce that wild bunch! I also have a daughter, Lucy Furr, who visits. All our Pekes got good homes.

This is Sir Wally of a questionable background since he is a rescue off the streets. He is very aristocratic so there is surely cat royalty back there somewhere! Click on his pic to veiw his pages.

Sir Wally

THE ELUSIVE ANCESTOR

I went searching for an ancestor. I cannot find him still.
He moved around from place to place and did not leave a will.
He married where a courthouse burned. He mended all his fences.
He avoided any man who came to take the U.S. Census.

He always kept his luggage packed, this man who had no fame.
And every 20 years or so, this rascal changed his name.
His parents came from Europe. They should be upon some list
of passengers to U.S.A., but somehow they got missed.

And no one else in this world is searching for this man.
So, I play geneasolitaire to find him if I can.
I'm told he's buried in a plot, with tombstone he was blessed;
but the weather took engraving, and some vandals took the rest.

He died before the county clerks decided to keep records.
No Family Bible has emerged, in spite of all my efforts.
To top it off this ancestor, who caused me many groans,
Just to give me one more pain, betrothed a girl named JONES.
