Peninsula Good Sams

relay for life

Peninsula Good Sams participated in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life for the past eight years.  This is a very worthwhile event and it is something that you will never forget.  The event begins on Friday afternoon and continues until 10:00AM on Saturday. The opening ceremony begins with sponsor recognition and other praises and thanks. Follow the opening ceremony, the first lap is done by cancer survivors with people of all ages - young and old. On the second lap, they are joined by their caretakers and family. This is a very emotional walk not only for the survivors but for those watching and cheering them on. The third lap is walked by all Medical Professionals. After these laps, the Relay begins with someone from each team walking the track all night. There are hundreds of teams, with each team having at least 15 members.  Fund raising continues through the night as the teams are walking and camping out.

Our main goal is to raise money in hopes that a cure for cancer will soon be found. We usually begin our fundraising immediately after the Relay concludes.

Our chapter has several members who are cancer survivors and we have lost several of our members to cancer.
