A top-ish view of my fermentation vessel. This was a 100 litre plastic container but it got chopped to about 70 litres, a top was welded on and a hole cut for the lid.
I also use a geyser thermocouple pocket (copper pipe on the right)to access the wort in the middle of my FV. I pop a thermistor based temperature probe into the pocket and it tells me the temperature in the middle of the FV. This NEVER correlates with what the fridge temperature says as the yeast generates its own heat during fermentation. This has seriously improved ny beer and provides repeatable control of fermentation temperatures from one batch to another, irrespective of the seasons.
