My brewing fridge !
I gutted the fridge of all those useless things that hold milk in the door etc and started using it to brew better beer. Up on the side you can see the temperature controller and temperature readout equipment.
I ferment in here and use it afterwards for dispensing, hence the gas bottle on the RHS. I made a hole in the front as well and you'll see a draught tap fitted there. Nothing like coming home from work and having a pint of your own draught on tap !
For the temperature controller I use a unit that can be set with a dial from +30°C to -30°C. Obviously the fridge itself can only cool down from room temperature. I have set it up so that the live wire goes straight through to the fridge as normal but the neutral line gets interrupted by the controller.
I do not rely on the dial reading for accuracy as I have two temperature sensors in there. One reads directly from the inside of my fermentor . . . if the beer needs to be a bit cooler then I turn the controller down a bit ! It takes quite a while for 70 litres of beer to chill in any case (around 1°C / hour on max chill) so you don't exactly make mistakes on the temperature control side.
